For those still having an issue try going into the games files and looking for - launcher-installer-windows - go into that uninstall the launcher and then restart the game. The launcher will pop up and then download the new update. restart stellaris and it should run if your problem is the same as mine.

Shame on you paradox, next time make sure you patch the game to fix itself instead of screwing us around and making us do it ourselves.

1/ this was not a game bug but a launcher problem

2/ it was caused by an accidental release of a new launcher 2020.17 that was not ready for general use

3/ most of the problem was actually various antivirus apps getting false positives on parts of the launcher and deleting or quarantining them, not problems in the launcher as such

4/ and yes, a reinstall will fix it as it will go back to 2020.16

I just bought Stellaris and I can't launch the game (I get the infinite loading screen in the launcher. I left it overnight for good measure.) Disabled A/V, rebooted, reinstalled Paradox Launcher several times (rebooting each time, checked the log files, deleted the %APPDATA% folders, etc.) What kind of company releases such a buggy launcher? I'm a software developer, so I debugged the Paradox Launcher process, only to find it's dying because it can't initialize a news feed of some sort. This is incredibly disappointing.

Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Note that you can run stellaris.exe directly from Windows Explorer, which bypasses the launcher.

So none of the ways to fix the problem have worked for me, so here are my log files.

No visible problems in those files. Was there no cpatch.log ?

I ask because that error mentions an old launcher version 2020.17.1 . Let's try forcing an update of the launcher.

Download the installer package for Windows: https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/emailsignatures/2021.3-win-prod.zip

Unpack the file you just downloaded and place the three files in the Steam folder for the game you're having issues with. If asked if you want to replace already existing files click "yes" - that's a sign you are in the right place!

Then please repeat the launcher reinstall procedure from before.

Good luck with that!

As soon as I put these files into the steam folder, the game immediately began updating. I have no idea if that means its going to work, but I am crossing my fingers. Will post an update on whether or not it worked.

Just placing those files in Steam should not have made the game update or do anything in fact.

After doing so did you go through the clean reinstall as per post#44 above, again?

This appears to be happening.. again... on the newer launcher?

Just randomly began happening.. even had played it today.

Update: I have discovered THIS specific error may also becaused by HEAVY R/W activity to the disk on which the steam copy of the game is also kept. . Why it points at C: is beyond me, my copy was on I:, yet there was a backup of my c: going to my i: at the time this was occuring. The backup is done from a shadow copy of the c: so the c: data isn't even directly in use. Conclusion: IOPS from to your main storage drive on which this position being fully utilized will also generate this error and should quite once the activity stops. If you get this error. check for high r/w activity on your drive. There may not even be anything wrong with the files.

Got this error while building scripts
TypeScriptError: File 'C:/snapshot/manager/node_modules/typescript/lib/lib.es2018.d.ts' not found,
I am unable to figure out the cause of the issue as there is no such destination in the system and also it came out of the blue(was working fine until yesterday). Now all the new projects that I start have this issue.
Can anybody help

Thanks in advance

As I read your issue this is nothing to do with our launcher or game, is that right? If so we cannot help you with your scripting problem, I am sorry.

Also, don't re-open old thread like this. Make a new one if you actually have a game or launcher issue, thanks.
