CK is a game based on promoting your own dynasty into key positions within your court and assigning them titles in your realms. Sometimes, you will have to evict another dynasty from a title to give it to your own family member.
You will be spammed to death with events that effect your character's personality and develop traits. Traits are how your character relates to other characters in your court and realm, and even other realms. Traits can be effected by character events such as education, illnesses, and the like. Also, traits can effect the key indicators of your character's prestige and piety. You earn prestige by the number of titles-and their rank- you have, the number of vassals you have, and how well you marry your sons and daughters. You can also earn prestige by creating titles. You lose prestige by claiming someone elses title, and you lose piety too.
For effiency, it is best to divest yourself of direct counts as vassals in favor of dukes, and work through your dukes.
The measure of your success will be the longevity of your dynasty and the number of titles that you have aquired. There is no other goal really, even the Crusades are a volentary... and expensive... undertaking and I rarely partake in them.
Once you learn the basics, you should really check out the additional modifications by Veld and Jord and others, which have greatly expanded the scenarios. And now female inheritance has been modded into the game!!! Eventually you will want to use the Dynastic Glory as a better way to score your game.
In order for our game to continue, you will need to have children, so you will need to marry your character to someone ... hopefully with compatible traits... and who may inherit or pass on an inheritance to your own heir.
If you claim someone elses title, that causes bad relations between you two, and if you go to war and have them give up the title, that causes alot of bad boy points which effects your reputation. Bad reputation leads to bad events spammed your way. If possibly, it is better to claim a title and then leave them as your vassal count or duke, then to take the title wholesale.
Welcome!!!
