Is there any mod that simply changes England's actual NAME to Great Britain when the event fires?

And is there a mod that changes the name to United Kingdom and the Union Jack in 1802?

The only way to change England's name in-game to the United Kingdom is to have an event change England's tag. This happens in the Age of Imperialism mod. The reason it doesn't in most versions is that there are a limited number of tags, which means a limited number of countries. Devoting two tags to England/UK can mean sacrificing a country elsewhere, if a mod hits the limit.

You will have to change all references to the ENG tag (not just those in major_eng.txt) that occur after the tag change. And if you don't make the tag change a sure thing (as it is in AoI), eg. by requiring that England owns or is buddies with Scotland, you will have to duplicate any events that happen to ENG after the tag change. You can, I think, get away with just adding duplicate references to your chosen UK tag in events that fire for other countries, but I suggest adding "no = (UK tag)" to ENG's entry in revolt.txt, so England can't revolt if the UK exists. That should prevent weird stuff happening because both exist simultaneously. Of course, if any events trigger off of ENG events (or the existence of ENG, or whatever) when ENG might actually be the UK you will have to change that to an OR trigger, referencing both the ENG and UK versions of the event.

Phew. Still think it's simple? ;)

Keep in mind that tag changes tend to cause problems until you save and reload the game. If you're going to do that it might be easier to just edit the name in config\text.csv after you get the flag change event (this might require exiting and restarting the game rather than just reloading the save).

Indeed. precisely why I haven't done it (even though I keep meaning to) as the work isn't worth the effort (though it does mean sacrificing my spleen). The USA needs to revolt from ENG (an event) for the French to get a revolution which sees Boney as Emperor - this is just one example of having to alter event structures to take UK into account. Bleh - I just couldn't be bothered.
