Hello,

A little feedback from an "experienced" player with Kaiserreich : The game will go out of sync as soon as the game in europe starts, even with only 4 players. More players and will mean more out of sync will occur.
You will need a vocal to sync pause/un-pause at least.
You also need a basic set of rules to prevent "gamey" actions, like DoW on Buthan for IC boost or claiming Danemark in 1938 for UoB (minor countries have a tendency to give provinces claimed, it can be around one or two % but it's enough to make the game go wild)

I have played KR many times in multiplayer. OOS is best avoided by having a host with a decent machine and upload speed, as well as optimal location compared to the oher players. The players themselves having decent machines and download and upload speeds is important as well. We may indeed have serious lag issues between the European and American players. We will definitely need a way of out of game communication to notify the host of when a player crashes, low game speed is a necessity.

Rules against gamey or exploitative behaviour is something I intended to bring up today.

Never been aware of "our of sync" when playing KR in multiplayer.
But only played with Europeans.

Yes you have. You encountered that numerous times while playing with me and Azzinoth. OOS is when a client player can suddenly no longer interact with the game, whil still present. Everything he does is severely delayed and a prompt rehost is the simplest solution.

I do not remember that..
Doesn't happen when I play with the guys I usually play with atleast.

There is also the "partial" out of sync (or whatever). You'll have lag in your actions because the time on your game and the time on the host will not go as the same speed. Of course, the faster the speed, the more the difference is increased. This lead to being in pause and watching the game flow (you are catching the time of the host of the game).

If you're playing on very slow speed you may not notice this but with a normal/above average speed it happens quite a lot when the war starts. It happens more when you have more players. While playing with just another player it is barely noticeable. While playing with 4 other players it starts to make the game unplayable on speed above "slow" without pausing the game every two minutes.

I'm not sure about the cause of that, and i didn't noticed it in DH (but I've less multiplayer games without Kaiserreich). Just make sure to pause the game often and regularly to see if anyone is starting to get out of sync.

My browser crashed and now I cannot return to the IRC channel. It keeps stating that I should pick a new nickname.

IRC is just too ineffective and buggy for our needs. We have to have an out of game means of communication, the forum will not do as we need to be able to contact each other realtime, even inside the game.

EDIT: After waiting for 10 minutes: I managed to return to the channel.

EDIT2: Only to crash again a few minutes later.

None of my other browsers can even load IRC.

Ineffective for what? To tell "Hello, I can't be here at 32nd of August!"?

You cannot communicate in-game with it. And it obviously doesn't work for me. It is hugely difficult to organize a meeting there as well. Imagine one of those OOS freezes, it will take several minutes for anyone to know you are gone. You wont be able to tell the host, and during that time something dreadful happens to you, such as 30 of your divisions getting encircled because you couldn't react.

I think it would be better, if we used spoken communication right from the start.
I can PM you the data of the TS3 server if you want to.
And we should take a date in the future, everyone can attend. We should set it in 3 days or so.

For machine issues: I got a 25Mbits Down/5Mbits Up Home Line, if that would be enough for you... Standard dualcore though with only 4 GB of RAM

For TS3 I recommend we use my M&B clan. I am an operator there. We will be quite undisturbed there. You can use the search function in the server list, write NOP and choose the one named "NOP Noble Order of the Platypus". Your computer and connection may be just enough for stable hosting, but it could be better. If anyone has any better upload speed and computer and provided they do not have a router preventing them from doing so (like I do), they should host.

I'm afraid I won't be able to play untill a few weeks from now, so I guess I'm dropping out. I'll post again when I'm available. Don't wait for me, start when you're ready :)

EDIT: Back now, has the game starteD?

No, looks like even Panzerman forgot about this. I simply gave up on even trying anymore and would rather play with people I can trust to be active and present.

Since only 3 people were on the meeting, and we had trouble on deciding on a time which is good for everyone, we dropped it.
