1944. The destruction of the German empire at the hands of the 3rd Internationale and the Russian Republic has created a new world order, in America a terrifying new government under the Silver Legion threatens to change the past, present and future while in the middle east the Ottoman Empire keeps the flame of the old order alive.
Now lets see the fates of your characters
The year is 1927. You are a black 26-year old worker in a large factory owned by the Ford Motor Company. Your name is Jackson Brown. You are a liberal and generally like democracy, however, you're prone to radicalization toward the far-left. You are a member of the American Federation of Labor. Furthermore, you are also a father of two children with a wife. You have been considering joining the Socialist Party of America for a while due to your insatisfaction with the current status quo of the country.
Our guy stood on the periphery watching political developments until 1932 when the socialists win enough states to deny any party an electoral majority. Herbert Hoover is thus elected President while Long secedes. Our guy now joins the Socialists as he realizes that they are a force to be reckoned with. By 1936 he is a well trusted member of the local union and has started full time political work with the IWW as his company fired him following a protest. Best of all, within the ranks of the reds he has found true acceptance. Sure there are still some racists even among the Syndicalists but these are few. Most of his 'brothers' accept him as their own. He was thus elated when Reed was elected President in 1936 and finally provided a voice for the workers of America.
Then in 1937 the traitor Douglas Macarthur did the unthinkable by marching on Washington. Now all hell was let loose. In the South Long declared his own Union state while Reed marched with his followers to the midwest for declaring the American workers revolution. Our guy joined him with his wife and children.
The Second American civil war started and even months later nobody could believe it. It all felt like a dream.
Our guy now joined the militia ranks and his son(now grown up) joined too. For 3 long years the Syndicalists fought against tyranny. But neither Macarthur nor the revolutionaries could match the sheer fighting force of the Longists. Due to their extreme radicalism and German arms supplies the Longists secured victory after victory. Even as the German sun began to set in Europe, many German military advisors and other soldiers of fortune joined the Longists to bolster their ranks.
By 1940 the end had come as suddenly as it had started.
Michigan, the last fortress of the revolution was now under siege. Everyone including Reed and our guy knew that defeat was near. Reed told his followesr that he had planes waiting to fly to the Commune of France and everyone had a choice of leaving or making a last stand.
Our guy wasn't as brave enough as he though. He was a pragmatist. So he fled to the Commune on the plane safely. Now in 1944 he watches as America burns under the Silver Legion. As it turned out, Long's own men under William Dudely Pelly had him assassinated and America is now a police state run by radicals and criminal thugs of the silver legion while Reed lies six feet under. Everyday new horror stories emerge from the American Legionary State. Thankfully atleast the revolution won out in Europe and our guy will probably stay here for the rest of his life though he does hate the Sorelian Totalist rule and is planning to move to social democratic Britain soon.
The year is 1936. You are Johann Smitt, a German 36-year old lawyer in Nuremburg, Germany. Your experiences with criminals as a lawyer has made you believe that a right-wing strongman is needed to keep order. You are recently married with a child on the way. You support the Kaiser but if things become especially bad you will settle for whomever you think will best maintain order.
Smitt continued his law practice until 1938. He watched as America fell into anarchy and Savinkov's authoritarian government was replaced by a democracy which surprised him immensely. Then in 38' the Alsace Ultimatum led to war. For a year more Smitt continued his practice but in 1940 he received a PR position owing to his ability to convince the masses. It was in short a propaganda machine. By 42' he had more and more work as the people needed convincing that the war was still winnable owing to German failures on both fronts. Despite some good victories against the Russian momentum in the east, the west fell spectacularly. In 43' British and French troops entered Nuremburg.
Smitt watched in horror as the red army raided stores, looted homes and committed grave atrocities on everyone they deemed as traitors to the revolution. He cried when he watched the Brandenburg gate collapse in ruins thanks to red bombs. Smitt was also put under arrest but he was a valuable asset to the red army as he knew about various criminal cases and government information. He was brutally interrogated and forced to reveal information on many of the criminals and then he watched as the red army set many of them free from 'bourgeoise tyranny'. Even many murderers were allowed to roam free. Everyone in jail who agreed to sing revolutionary cries literally got their freedom. Smitt now languishes in house arrest hoping to escape to Pelly's America. One day he hopes to help the brave Silver legionaries of America crush red tyranny, avenge his Kaiser and liberate his homeland. Until then he feeds his info to the new German revolutionary government hoping that they won't put him in a real prison after his information runs dry.
Well, hope it's not too late.
This is the year 1925. You are a 44 year old rich Turkish landowner (large land overseer) from Mosul named Berk Kiraz. You dislike democracy as being weak, as it might mean giving more power to the Arabs, and support the far right. Your views on monarchy are positive, as without the Sultan you fear losing your lands to the locals.
Kiraz had spent his whole life tending to his lands, lending money to peasants and selling grain for profit. The Arabs in Mosul however infuriated him. How could they demand 'independence' from the Caliph of Islam. Wasn't the right to rule given to him by the will of Allah himself?
He especially despised Sabahettin's weak liberals whom his youngest German educated son supported. They, he said would lead to the ruination of the empire.
He was proved right in 1938 when the Arabs revolted and the Shia infidels in Tehran declared war in their support. The Arabs in Mosul raided the family estate. After the fall of the local garrison to Iraqi nationalists, Kiraz and a few other Turkish big landowners arranged for a defensive perimeter around one of the local estates. They hoped to hold out until Ottoman troops arrived to relive them. However the local Arab peasants had no intention of giving up. After raiding the estates and grain stores they came upon the fortified estate and besieged it. For 8 long months the Turks held out as all able bodied males patrolled and exchanged shots from the walls of the estate day in and day out. The besiegers weren't trained soldiers and many of them were diverted to fighting the actual Ottoman troops by their criminal leaders and so the 8 month stand was partially successful. However by the end of those months all food rations had started to end and the Arab thugs started throwing incendiary projectiles made from crude materials inside the estate. On one such unfortunate occasion the fire spread to the entire estate and killed many woman who were sleeping in the underground cellar. Finally the men decided to charge out in an attempt to shock the Arabs out. But it failed and the Turks surrendered. The Arabs shot many of them at random including Kiraz's liberal youngest son.
Thankfully a mere week later while he was still languishing and being tortured in a dungeon, Kiraz overheard the traitors saying that Ottoman troops were at the gates of Mosul. Kiraz was set free for now the Arabs feared retribution and retribution was about to come their way hard for when the Caliph's men finally raised the standard of the House of Osman over Mosul, Kiraz decided to enact brutal revenge over the peasantry. What happened next cannot be described in this post but you can probably guess it. All the frustrations and anger of the Turks fell upon the defeated Arabs leading to many massacres.
Now in 1944 Kiraz is a dedicated Kemalist and supports Vizier Ismet Pasha Inonu. He knows that the 3rd Internationale or the Russians view the Caliphate as a mere pawn in their new shadow war post German defeat but he knows that one day the glorious Caliphate will rise again Inshallah.
