Keep turning radar on

In the some plays this evening i notices when jetfighters return to base they turn their radar on automatically. When i turn it of subsequently it again turns the radar on.
Same with a sub followed by enemy torpedoes, it kept turning on active sonar. I can turn it of but within seconds the sonar is active again.

Why is that?

Most probably you turned on the global setting to turn on sensors automatically if a unit is detected by an enemy sensor.

You are right. But is there a logic to do this when you are discovered and bailing out as fast as you can?

If you're already detected, you may as well use whatever sensors you have to increase situational awareness, maybe fire a defensive weapon etc. Basically, if you're already detected it can't do any harm and may even help to have your active sensors switched on.
