The drive doesn't like the CD of EU at all.
Just spinns and spinns... therefore installation is not possible!
Any suggestions?

Nope, it seems like it can't find something on the CD.
Shows the same symptoms like You would put a defect CD in a drive: drive spinns at highest rpm and keeps seeking forever. Access via
'My Computer' or Explorer not possible.
BTW: I've the German version of EU, updated to 1.05b.
The firmware of the drive is 226, the latest.
