Keyboard not working

as you can see im typing from the same keyboard... but when i start the game this keyboard does not work. the only thing that does work is the caps lock, num lock, & scroll lock. nothing else works. i cant even change the key binds or nothing. esc does not work either. i am able to alt+tab out in stuff but as for the game controls nothing works.

any help would be great.

The keyboard is a plain Dell. i always keep my drivers up to date. I built this computer about 3 years ago.
It has: Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
Memory: 2030MB RAM
Page File: 709MB used, 4210MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
1024 x 768 (32 bit) (75Hz)
SigmaTel Audio
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3
 
That log is not from the patched version, the patched version should say version 1.06 at the bottom of the log. Try to reinstall the latest patch 3 but please make sure that the game is not running in the background (when you press "yes" to the in game update dialog the game is left running in background). Easiest approach would be to restart your computer and then install the patch (without starting the game).

tried to play it with the update and still no keyboard controls
