Keyboard Not Working

Just installed the complete collection and the beta patch, but when I get into the scenario my keyboard, whether the keyboard on the laptop or a plugged in USB keyboard, doesn't work. I can't pause, bring the menu, etc. I know that I can do all this with the mouse, but I'm used to using the keyboard. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Well, Paradox support had no solution and suggested I post in the Crusader Kings general forum (not even the tech support forum). I have installed the game on multiple computers and have the same problem. It’s odd, because the F1, F2, \, and arrow keys work, but the Esc, P, and other hotkeys do not. Has something changed in the Complete version versus earlier versions? I could've sworn that when the game and expansion originally came out I could use the keyboard to do things. I'll try posting in the general forum as recommended by Paradox support and see what happens.

There are several versions of the beta patch that all show the same version number ingame.

Are you using any mods in addition to Deus Vult?

Does the error occur on all your computers when you try to play Deus Vult? Or only on some of them?
Is the same operating system installed on all of them or different ones?

Does the error occur only with the USB keyboard or does it occur too when you use an oldfashioned PS2 keyboard?

Are you using ANY programs while running Deus VUlt?

What are Esc and P supposed to do? I don't think they do anything. If you're trying to pause with p, pause is the pause/break key.

Well, there you go. I WAS misremembering. Chalk this one up to the old error ID:10T. I was trying to use the wrong keys. I thought that the ESC was supposed to bring up the main menu but my old brain isn't what it used to be. I guess I can get back to starting a new dynasty and waiting for CKII!
