Hi all,
This is my unofficial first AAR, my first AAR Battle for the Westcountry has been put on hold as I of yet am unable to post attachents to the thread.
I will be telling you a story of a unified south-west. Cornwall, Devon and Exeter live in unity under the brilliant but somewhat tyrannical rule of Uther I of Dumnonnii. His son Bryok stands ready to inherit this new and promising kingdom.
England lies in tatters, raped and pilliaged of its wealth by the trinket-crazed Irish and Scottish who do battle in the north for supremacy of this war torn isle. Sweden also watches hawkeyed doing business to extend its own infleunce. Dumnonii stands alone, a free and defended country with an alliance with their Bretonnian brothers Dumnonni stands to inherit seemingly all of England. This AAR is their story
PART I - Expansion
King Uther I stands and observes the rolling dales and valleys to the east of his hillfort in Exeter. He looks on with both greedy and hubristic determination - the count of Dorset was next on his list of death. The sight of him like this both inspires and instills a sense of fear within his subjects.
Uther by the age of 20 was set apart from his family, a heritage of farming and hunting had not captivated him. His service in the armed forces satiated his thirst for blood uniting the provinces of Devon and Jaffa under his military command. Now it look set for another capture of land, this time edging towards the heart of England itself.
Having lost some considerable prestige 'grabbing' the title of Dorset from its delinquent occupier Uther summoned his Marshall and brother Cadan Cerniw, the man who so faithfully assisted him during his rapid assent to power dispelling his bastard halfbrother Bleddyn and assuming power. That was some 12 years ago now it was time to build upon this success.
Uther turned his head from the world of politics as his 16 year old son entered the balcony from which Uther was gazing. He had grown fast and presented himself much like his father, eager strong and a tough soldier. His one traith that disappointed his father however was his laziness in the field. Unlike his father Bryok was prone to the comfort of sleep and rest to such an extent the Marshall lamented saying he would never be a fit soldier. Bryok could seemingly never obtain the strategy riddled mind complex of his father but he could still kill a man when instructed none the least.. This pleased his father to no end.
Furthermore, his father had heard he was soon to be wed to the Charles Count of Nantes eldest daughter. Strengthening the bond between Dumnonii and Britanny.
Uther's own brother Gwargn is to marry another Bretonnian noblewoman. Eustachie. The links binding his Kingdom with theirs seemed to be sown, through peace and upcoming war he hoped Britanny would stand by Dumnonii to defend eachothers interests
