I'm playing the 5th mission, "Parental Care". When I try to save the game, Majesty 2 crashes and the game is not saved. I have had no problems up to this point, and I have played all the way through the original game plus the first four missions of Kingmaker without a problem.

I am on Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit

Another c0000005 problem. It's typically happening in Vista and Windows 7.

The explanation for this problem is "ACCESS VIOLATION" so there is not much you can do.

Did you try to run the game as administrator? (right click on the shortcut or exe file and then click run as administrator)
