For a long while now I have been making a mod for the Knights. I had big plans for it, but find myself unable to complete it. Because of this, i'm posting the work I am most proud of here.

I made a very nice and comprehensive namelist for the Knights. I feel namelists are often overlooked, but I consider them a major part of a tag's flavor. My list includes leader names, ship names, and rulers. Here's the code:

Ship are named after grandmasters, both pre and post 1444. The English navy namelist does this too, so I considered it alright. Names also come from place names on Malta, Italian translations of islands in the Dodecanese, Knights holdings on Anatolia (ex Petronium), Victoria 2's navy list for the Papal States, and these links:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ships_of_the_line_of_the_Order_of_Saint_John
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_of_the_Order_of_Saint_John#cite_note-6
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Athenienne_(1800)

Leader and monarch names are from a list of the Knights' Grandmasters, and some monks / naval captains thrown in for fun. I didn't remove anything from the basegame.

Thats all I have for today. I had many, many more plans for the Knights. But I consider my namelist my crowning achievement and I hope you use it. Thanks for your time!

I like the cosmopolitan mix of names! However, it's worth remembering that EU4 doesn't have linked names like CK2 does, and there's several cognates in that list of monarch names. A "Pierre III" could be followed by "Petrus III" with that list, or "Ferdinandus II" followed by "Ferdinando II" and then "Ferdinand II". That's maybe a little wonky, and it'd be worth considering using only one name per set of cognates to avoid that sort of confusion. The mix of languages seems fine by me, but it's those cognate repeats that may cause trouble. :)
