Capturing Negative Supply

This has been mentioned in other posts, but I don't see an isolated post it here in the bug forum, so here it is.

It shouldn't be possible to capture negative supply from other countries, but this happens regularly. Assuming there's a good reason for negative supply to exist at all, it's certainly not correct in the case where Amsterdam is captured by South African troops for 5 days, then Germany incurs supply "debt" from recapturing Amsterdam.

I have a save game, taken just before recapturing Amsterdam, where my totals go from:

coal steel rubber oil
78966 99481 57684 6991
11485 99480 57449 394

This bug is pretty annoying, and I think well worth fixing in 1.06b

I agree with kirkpp ...

As Germany in my first game of 1.06 I captured Amsterdam and immediately lost almost all of my stockpiled resources and supply. This is the kind of error that makes the game extremely frustrating for those who prefer not to (or lack the knowledge) to fix bugs themselves. I really like the changes made in 1.06 and appreciate the remarkable level of support from Johan and the entire team, but will hold off playing HOI until someone tells me how to fix this bug myself or it's fixed in a revised patch.

Figured out what was causing this -

In the file db/events/ai/ai, there are events that knock 99000 off of coal, oil, steel, and rubber for several ai-controlled nations whose capital is being threatened.

Only problem is that oil and maybe coal don't reset to zero after a day like they are supposed to - they stay negative, so people who capture the capitals inherit the negative balances.

Workaround - just eliminate the reduction in coal and oil.

If they don't want people to capture resources from a capital, wouldn't it be easier to just eliminate that feature from the EXE?

Ok did that but i still get the hit.....

Does this only work if i start a new game after deleting these events?

Can someone please explain the workaround to a neophyte?
Use the cheats. Hit F12 (the multiplayer discussion box). Type "coal" (or oil or rubber or steel) and you get 5000 units of coal. Do repeatedly until either your negative total zeros out, or goes back to the level it hit before you siezed the enemy capital, or until you get to a level that would include captured resources (which is what you'd have gotten in HOI 1.00-1.05).

When you're done, hit F12 again and the discussion box disappears. And remember, you aren't cheating. You're fixing a game bug.
