Save game corrupt

I have some problems with MP savegames. It seems like the file go corrupt when you try to reload the game. Anyone had a similar experience.

I suspect that it have something to do with you saving right before someone have a CTD.

If I host I can see my fellow players try to load the save game but nothing happens. The green bar just go back and forth all the time.

I am having the same problem, and I am also using1.02. My friend and I are playing over a network so i can see what is on his screen. He keeps getting a pop up box saying unit counters are turned to on. We have the same settings as far as unit counters, but he repeatedly loads save game file and can't continue. This is the second save game we have lost with the new patch. We both have 1.2 gig athlons, gforce 2 and 3, and all newest drivers. We can play for hours but cant continue after reloading a saved game. The autosave game is producing the same problem. We have tried everything possible on our end to correct it. When game loads to 99 percent, he gets the pop up again and it repeatedly loads and restarts.

Do NOT save the game when a player got a CTD after a specific action. That causes him to be kicked every time he tries to join the game.

The save-game transfer never worked for me so I did it manually. Copy the both savegame-files from your /scenarios/save games/ to his folder. Then you should be able to continue your game.

Thanks for the prompt reply, we have not saved just before a crash, normal save with no problems. I will try sending him the save game. This is the second game we lost this way with no problems at all during play. Don't think it is a fluke. Anyway, I love the game and arealize it will be fixed eventually.

Before transfering the savegame the game tries to compress the files into a bz2-file. The file is created but not transfered. None of my decompress-tools is able to get useful data out of the archive. So it must be the compressing/decompressing-methods they use.

If the game crashes just while watching the screen the other play can save the game, send it to the other player and load the savegame.

I had once similar problem and got it fixed by deleting the compressed bz2-file from the save-folder. I had saved the game with same name as earlier game so it tried to send the bz2-file of that earlier game to the other players. See if it works.

And I will Pass it along to the MP forum, so others can benefit from this as well. :)
