vichy france usless

in all the games ive played i wondered why vichy france wasnt making any units so one game i decided to find out it turns out all vichy frances recources are disapearing, i tryed the resource codes and they disaper the next day, the only way to make vicht france usefull is to constantly send them resources i noteced that when u constanly send them recources their industrial capabilites rise from like 2 to 50. they still disapear but it keeps the industrys rolling for each day, idk if its just me who has this bug but if u do to i recomend when u get the option (if yo germany) dont create vichy frace, or send them resources

When I play Germany, I just setup a convoy from north africa to Marseilles on behalf of Vichy France. That brings in Vichy France's own overseas resources, and with it the industry has enough to do it's job. Any excess rubber (mostly it's rubber) tends to find it's way to Berlin through this route ;)

The only possible 'bug' here is that the Vichy AI doesn't setup it's own convoy for these crucial resources.

Some of this is because they are a puppet of Germany with a land connection to their master. They give all resources except 100 of each to Germany before allocating any to their own industry. Even giving them 1000s of resources by cheat/event/convoy doesn't change this since they give them away before using any. This effectively limits them to 50 ICs maximum.

there is bug with the conclusion of peace/creating of a "revolting" nation. in the revision Vichy should again gain some of the french units.

Has anyone found a solution to the freeze that occurs when France retakes Vinchy France that happens about 1 month after the fact?

Aaah, that must be what' s going on. It's been driving me nuts. Game freezes on the same day, early in September 1940. France retook Vichy France just about a month earlier.

....so is there a fix for this? I really want to continue my game....
 
Seems to work better if you change VIC from becoming a puppet to becoming an ally. Just one line to change in the event.

Also - and I know that this won't appeal to the purists - I set up an event to let ENG inherit FRA after VIC is created. "England assumes control of the Free French". I really just copied and made minor changes the Anchluss in Austria event. This does a couple of bad things and a couple of good:

BAD

* France is gone, pretty much forever. Sorry.

GOOD

* Removes the CTD's associated with FRA-VIC.
* Solves a problem that was irritating (to me, anyway) about all the German provinces going to France after the invasion. Now the US & ENG will have provinces on the mainland, which makes a subsequent ALLIES - COMINTERN war more interesting. If you swing that way.

As I said, won't appeal to everyone.
 
Playing France after Vichy event is useless too..

It seems France only use the IC from province where the captial is moved (south america). I gave up since 9 IC don't enogh supplies even for the units that ends up in the redeploy que after Vichy.

Should have more IC if u include all IC in the remaining collonies that goes to France after Vichy event (in middle east, africa).

Yes, new France captial had resources at least 2000 of each (coal,steel,rub) so that does not explain that low total IC outcome.

Ah, I see! But how can you explain this:

In my recent 1.06 game (playing GER) when I sent some Italian troops to Algeria in order to stop the advancing British forces, they had no supply. I thought that this might be because neither VIC nor ITA is able to set up a supply convoy because of the lack of merchant vessels. So I decided to set up an own convoy when 3 of my best German panzer divisions landed in Tunis. BUT, to my greatest suprise, my German units were out of oil as well!!! It is even harder to understand because Tunis is producing little oil itself...
 
Probably similar to the usual problem of using German units in North Africa. Units are supplied by whoever controls the province so German and Italian units in Vichy provinces are supplied by Vichy. Vichy may not be able to either produce or convoy enough supplies for Africa and they may be shipping the African oil back to Europe. Italian AI is probably not smart enough to set up convoys to allied provinces. Is Vichy your puppet? If so, you should be able to see their North African depot in your list; are there supplies and oil in their depot?
 
At least shipping supplies from Germany to N. Africa works. I've got a game going where I've taken Yugoslavia & turned down an independant Croatia in order to keep the ports and the direct land connection. I've had to set up 2 convoys to make Vichy useful- one to bring resources from N. Africa to Marseilles, and another to take supplies from Yugoslavia to N. Africa.

Of course the other way to get Vichy some ICs is probably to lose her African colonies. Apparently resources piling up in colonies count towards the limit of 100 of each resource the AI keeps around. If Vichy lost all her colonies perhaps resources in continental France would be kept. Of course they'll probably be converting coal->oil->rubber at some horrible ratio and only getting 10 ICs, but whatever.
 
Vichy Supply

I understand the concept of the troops being supplied by the nation that owns the provinces they are in....but still, why does Vichy have 0 supply? Even as the puppet, where it gives all but 100 resources to Germany, they should still have 50 ICs out of which they could supply troops given to them. I've noticed this ESPECIALLY when playing minor nations for fun....Germany will give Vichy hordes of expeditionary forces to beat back the aforementioned Allied landings in Southern France, but they end up being totally useless since the Vichy AI apparently can't supply them. I don't know how to mess with the actual code (change one event line?) as suggested by other members, so what can be done about this problem? And will there be a fix in a potential 1.07 patch? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
 
Why does Vichy suddenly supply her troops in N.Africa if i take provinces there????(I'm United Kingdom or whatever) first they have 0 org and out of out of supply and suddenly in supply and org rises like "@#£¤€%* you know.
