and I think that you'll be wise to keep your opinion to yourself, unless ask for it... I find your guide on how to deal with ladders to be commendable, but all the extra missionary work and patronizing attitude about why/how people should play their games is getting tedious.

I don't even know how to respond to this. You're telling me not to post my opinion in a thread *entirely based on opinion* about a complaint *entirely based on opinion* because you don't like it?

Right. I'll keep that in mind. How about you don't provide YOUR opinion about my opinion unless I ask for it?

It's still cheating.

Also, look up the definition of patronizing. I've never once pretended to be kind.

You both realize a moderator has come and said for us to tone it down a notch right? I know its not my job to bring it up but still it seems things are getting heated again only a few posts after someone came along and said it. Besides things are getting off topic and the main focus is ladders...We are not here to discuss the virtues of what is or isn't cheating or start hurling potentially insulting words at each other. You guys can go have an e-mail war for that but this is a forum for a game and a specific topic that neither of you are addressing. If someone wants to mod their game to have a purple dragon spawn in every 10 seconds and kill all the monsters in their dungeon its their issue and outside what the developers need to deal with so its completely irrelivent to this forum as is modding out ladders. What we are here to discuss is if the developers need to change ladders. Personally I think they need to be changed but removeing them entirely is perhaps too far.

DavidGX: Its not about ladders being "hard" or something. It is annoyance, that you have to divert your attention every few minutes. Instead "being trouble" thing think about it as "not fun" as it don't provide game with mutch interesting experience.

After a couple games the ladders do become quite annoying. Simply because your dungeon gets bigger and higher level and you are not talking about chasing just one or two ladders. They appear three to four at a time.

Teleporting a squad onto a ladder does nothing because they do not attack it automatically, which is lame. Even then the clunky user interface requires you to select the squad you just teleported then another order to attack them.

The clunky user interface makes it worse if invading adventurers make it into a room, simply because you can not teleport your squads directly into a room, you have to teleport them outside a room. The rooms have such low hp that you ussualy lose the room.

Ladders also make traps pointless because ladders can appear anywhere bypassing the traps.

My last game I think adventurers came in through the front door once. Probbaly becaus eI was letting a ladder survive to harvest heroes. SO most likely if you destroy all the laders they still come in through the front door.

That is a good sum of the fundimental problem although this thread has been getting heated as some people want the ladders removed and others don't. Some individuals are also a bit shall we say "passionate" about their views which is makeing things get off topic a fair bit. Much like my Evil Genius referances.

Yeah. I had great experience with 5 squads, 3 of them patrols, 2 follows Baal. The three are able to destroy most of ladders and the rest I just find and port them nearby. At first, I dealth with heroes by building treasure room and minotaur just near the entrance and filling small hall with traps. But DEC points become too rare to buy treasure room, minotaur or even traps (arcanium+upgrades, I had to rely on healer+bersekers only to do all the job). And I still have to divert my attention to whack ladders. And sometimes, heroes just appear from where was no ladder at all.

Without feature for planing dungeon, without feature to plan patrol points, without feature so that unsquadded creatures would efficiently patrol dungeon or with any other tool to transform teleportingtoladder into plansufficientlyahead or without revamping ladders, I don't think that this function would be fun at all.

Yeah, how dare they make you divert your attention for a few seconds every now and then? This game should be playable by plants with attention deficit disorder.

Ok, i think thats enough. It has gone long enough, everyone has voiced their opinions. This thread is now closed.
