Ive found a little tweak for WinXP that may be able to help with the lag problems that DD campaigns show around 1941-1942. I used this tweak to improve perfomance on Oblivion an uber Pc and performance killer. This tweaj forces XP to load the entire system into RAM and use NO page file for system files. You would think: how can this improve performance if it makes the system to use more memory!! the thing is that its probable that the lag problem is being generated by HD access. This would reduce the amount of files coming and going trough to the swap file for system purpouses. I think its worth trying, I would do it tonight and come back tomorrow with my own exprience.

NOTE: This is ONLY for System with AT LEAST 768RAM, 1GB recommended.

NOTE 2: ALWAYS perform registry backup before altering the registry...ALWAYS----

Here is the tweak:

Memory Performance Tweak

These Settings will fine tune your systems memory

management .

go to start\run\regedit -and then to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

1.DisablePagingExecutive -double click it and in the decimal put a 1 - this allows XP to keep data in memory now instead of paging sections of ram to harddrive yeilds faster performance.

2.LargeSystemCache- double click it and change the decimal to 1 -this allows XP Kernel to Run in memory improves system performance alot

Reboot and watch your system fly ..happy tweakin

Edit: Bad advice.

No virtual memory is not the same thing as loading the system into main memory. If you do as you suggest I think most people will have CTD if you try and play game.

Oh, I shouldn't have worte that so late...
You'r complitly right, excuse me.
