Lag Question

I am now playing my third Imperator game. The last two went nearly to the end date, and I didn't have any lag problems.

In the current game, I'm just past 200 BC and suddenly am getting brutal lag, to the point of unplayability. This started just after I finished conquering all of North Africa.

I know there is likely no simple solution to this issue, but is there any guide for how to deal with lag? Or is this run through just dead?

I've searched around and not found anything.

Maybe another program not related to Imperator? It could be in the background. If you're on max graphical resolution and shadows and everything, you could try to reduce that and/or remove certain graphic features such as shadows or anti-aliasing.

No / very little lag for me which to me indicates that the game is well optimised without major memory leaks and I played until 750 on an ancient PC with 8GB/ 2500k/GTX760. As others have said, check your background processes and if any of those hog the disk or CPU in case restarting your PC does not help.

Thanks for the replies. Oddly after I played for a couple of months it resolved. I reloaded the save, and it lagged during those two months every time I tried and then resolved. Strange.

Oh well. All is well that ends well.
