I edited the provinces. Under history/provinces/soviet, then based on names selected the .txt files (Vilnius is 364 or something--it's written 364-Vilnius) In the file there are two things you would need to change. The first is the owner of the province. Vilnius had RUS (Russia) as the owner. I changed this tag to LIT (Lithuania). This is done with the controller = xx area. Although it is possible to start a game as Russia and manually release Lithuania and others, save, and load the game as Lithuania (by clicking on it), this means that the realesed nations would be satellites of Russia. To not be satellites, you have to edit those files (as far as I know). However, this also means that whenever you load Vicky and don't chose a new game, those "realeased" nations will still be there.how did your release those three nations. and is it possible to release poland at the start?
So yes, it is possible to release any nation, or give any province to any nation. You could have Yemen control the Lithuanian provinces if you wanted to. A good idea is to remove all of the 'parent' country's cores on the nation you wish to "release." Because I did not do this in the beginning, I had to script a decision where Russia would lose all of the cores. (It's just a modified Treaty of London) It is also a good idea to give the "realeased" country the technology which all countries start out with. I don't know how to do this but I'm sure it's fairly easy.

The reason I didn't release other Russian satellites was purely historical. As stated in the prologue, Lithuania was liberated by revolutionaries during my alternative version of the November Uprising, which while it did affect other countries in Russia, the Russians could (in my version) only supress rebels from Poland, Belarus, and the Ukraine. As a result, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia gained independence and not them.A very interesting AAR ! Good to know there's a way to play as Lithuania without being a satellite. How much is your literacy rate ? why dont you ally with Austria or Ottoman empire ?
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to put this AAR on a temporary hiatus as I will be going away to boarding school and not be able to play Vicky until I get home. I might be able to an update around Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not consistently until summer. I wish I could do one more update before I go, but I'm really just too busy.
