I usually play on desktop but i got a surface laptop and i wanna play this game portably

Problem is that if i change resolution i get black bars. Surface laptop is 3:2 resolution

The reason i changed the res is that the text is too small and the ui is too small otherwise.

I looked up other threads and i found the settings file and changed it to the custom resolution for 3:2 in the ini file but it seems to just put it back to the nearest standard resolution since i still get black bars

When i play in my native resolution of 2256 x1504 which is 3:2 aspect ratio then it fill the whole screen but the writing and icons are too small to play comfortably as the screen is 13.5 inch. When I change in the ini settings to make a lower resolution that is also 3:2 then there are either black bars on top and bottom or black bars on sides as if it has automatically changed to the closest standard resolution

I tried unchecking override high dpi scaling beaviour in ck2game properties when that didnt work but it made it worse

Does anybody know how to set the resolution so that the game would not have black bars when i change resolution?

I also tried UI mods like the one arumba uses but it didnt seem to work?

Any help with res or mods would be much appreciated

Thanks

Ps i did check the forums first and so far didnt find anything that worked

The supported resolutions for the game on your hardware are listed at the end of the file documents/paradox/ck2/logs/system.log . Any of them ought to work.

If your main issue is font size there are mods that help with that, such as the Better Readable Font mod.

Hi OP,

I realize this is slightly off-topic but how does the game run on your Surface Laptop otherwise? Does yours have the i5 or i7 processor?

I'm considering getting a Microsoft Surface Laptop and would really like to be able to run EU4 and Victoria 2 to play while travelling.
