For some reason various old mods are still showing up in the CK2 launcher (and it's not just cosmetic, the game loads with them selected) despite the mods no longer existing in the documents/paradox interactive/ck2/mod folder. I've deleted the entire mod folder, verified the game's integrity, reinstalled the game, and the mods are still in the launcher. This includes mods not on the Steam workshop, and the workshop does not re-download any mods anyway (nor is the mod folder reappearing). In essence, I'm stuck with old mods that just won't go away.

As the launcher reads them out of the documents/paradox/ck2/mod/ , it's hard to understand how this is possible. I had someone complain of unsubscribed mods not going away just yesterday, and deleting them from that folder worked fine.

You are not using a userdir.txt file are you? If so the mods come from where it points.

Nope. Hadn't heard of that userdir text file until now, so I just had a quick search anyway, and I didn't find it (from a quick google I saw people mentioning that a user.dir txt would be in the same folder as the CK2.exe, so in the Steam CK2 folder, and I didn't spot it).

Back when I was trying to figure out how the mods were still showing up, I also ended up deleting everything in the documents/paradox interactive/CK2 folder just to make sure.

Please do a full **clean** re-install of Steam and game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- exit the Steam app entirely
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- delete everything in the Steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.
