Simple question is their anyway to leave your own alliance. I really would like to get out of my current one but It seems I can't. I really need to ally with P/L & Austria so I can attack France.

No straight one, no. U could let it expire, insult the other so they will drop out. Ban others if possible, change religion, but quite ur own alliance as is, nah.

I thought so but I was hoping there was one that I hadn't yet discovered. Thank you Bib

I always prefer to lead my own alliance anyway so that problem really doesn't pose itself for me :D

Though alliances of allainces of some sort could be nice. Or the current defunct warpacts and the like.

I really feel that there should be the option to dissolve an alliance because loyalty was only as good as long as nothing better came around.
Backstabing was quite common during this time period.

I think it's a game-balancing issue : If you're the leader, you can choose new allies, but you can't leave the alliance. If you choose to join the alliance, you can leave whenever you want, but you can' choose your allies.

Not inviting too much countries when you create an alliance could be a good idea. That way, you can invite new members when the opportunity arise, the situation change, you change your strategy, etc...

Hey

Frederick Wilhelm was a backstabbing bastard.
He attacked our provinces :(
But i beleive he gained little.

Insult all you allies so you have a high negative relations to all of them. No make a stupid DOW against an enemy they generally like more then you.
Happily watch your allies dropping out not caring for your demand that theys should attack this other nation.

One thing though...
Put your hopes to higher powers that most of the world won't attack you while in that offensive war while standing alone and unprotected against the world without an alliance ...
