I saw what happened over on the "July 28th release date" thread and how it got closed down, that's quite shocking. We all know how everyone is excited about the release, but nobody can make time run any faster so no matter what you do, there is still just that much time left to wait. We need to have patience for each other, when someone replies something that really opposes your post or seems really disagreed with you, there's no need to get too mad about it. Even if it's something not nice at all, you can just step back from it and let it cool down or go to another thread. If it's bad enough, the forum admins will probly deal with it. One thing we don't need is to pour gasoline onto fire. Now let's all respect each other and be friendly to other people. Afterall, our long wait is nearly over.

As initiator of that thread I violently disagree with all your opinions Cpt. Jack! Ha ha. Seriously, I think the board should have a monitor or two to delete posts and replies that amount to flame wars. It happens on the best of forums; after all to put in nautical terms, some people do run a little light on ballast...

Wise words Sir. I too tried to get people to calm down in that thread and at once, someone replied defending themself. And so it goes on in circles. This is the internet, and sadly people are comfortable sitting at keyboards spewing out rudeness and calling childish names where they are safe and can be without fear of a true face to face encounter.

People like you, Jack, have spoken wisely a million times but people like to argue and fight on the internet ten million times more. I would suggest we act in a mature way on this board if we can - and the type of subject matter of this game will I hope attract a larger proportion of mature gamers than, say, a WoW clone would.

But if we try our hardest and be civil we will all enjoy a more pleasant board. And if someone is nasty or short with you? Then do your best to step back and just DO NOT RESPOND. A person cannot argue with silence, it takes two to make a flamewar so no response is often the best response.

That thread turned out how it did due to people making vague statements in response to one another, before going into more detail and eventually becoming quite pedantic and short with one another.

Solution: don't get pedantic over silly little things.

I already said what I had to say in the other topic and ended the conversation on my part on the last post just before the person locked it so I was not going to write anything there anymore anyway. That whole thing could have been avoided with small detale that I already stated in the other thread. In reality best way to avoid conflict in internet is to write things so that it can't be taken as offensive by anyone. Even if it might be hard but its not imposible. Its little too much to expect that the other person is going to be the "nice guy" and not get offended of anything. I'm always ready to speak things out in civil manner and I can have a conversation of the way to talk in the forums here without making it a flame war.

There is an old saying: "Haste makes waste." I would rather wait awhile than have a game rushed out the door. East India Company is no exception. It will be done when it is done.

well said grey... and a good point in this era of rushed gaming...

i'm sick of excuses like 'during our rush to get the game finished in time we may have overlooked some things' or even worse 'so many computers are made differently these days its hard to make sure the game works on all of them' ?? HuH ?

thank you paradox and nitro, it doesn't seem like you guys have rushed to meet a date. I hope this sells well for you guys, and hope it is a nice flagship for your company nitro =D.

Surely there is no doubt that this WILL sell well? It's just playing into that whole market of pirate fanboys that became greater in number since Pirates of the Caribbean, and the such like. That's not even to mention the history fanatics, the sailing game fanatics, the naval warfare fanatics, TW fanatics, etc... I'm pretty sure this will do well looking at those large markets! :)

It`s not "fanatics" but "highly motivated people" :D

lol... i see.. maybe we can organise match ups for when the game is released... so we can welcome the game, and test out the MP right away ??

recreate some engagements maybe ?

12 players is alot of space to fill, but there are alot of people posting on this forum that would easily fill that space.

Yeah, I'd be happy with that after I got to grips with the game a bit and providing the times we would play were suitable hours.

Well I have been thinking about this for ages, but id idnt dare to post it yet...

I would like to start a forum, where we can discuss anything EIC related, History related.. and then Multiplayer tournaments, clan championships... all that neet stuff. MAybe some of you guys kknow Total War Center, or Total War Org... well those are TW fan forums... each og them over 1 million posts... they are hosting tournamens, hosting modifications.. well we should do soemthing like that!

And also creating a clan would be nice, so we could organize games easier, organize inter clan tourneys.. :) I have a plan for a clan layed out already, just wanted to wait till I actually get to play the game :)
