Note that Leon, Burgundy and Denmark/Novogorod are already taken by long-term, serious players. The rest is pretty much at your disposal, at this point I do not see any kingdom that would be so powerful as to be objectionable by the other players.
Note that there it seems that for Chistmas the Church has called for the truce of God. It is not yet clear if and when we will play in late december...

I am around tonight, I was to fly to Thailand, but with the turmoil there it is delayed a bit. And to be clear this is business and I will be in Asia for the forseeable future ( at least 6 months )
Oh wait I have a birthday party to go to tonight. Not really wanting to go out karaoke'ing but its business related. So I may or may not be around then - it'll be a game time decision so check in if you want.

I am available this friday for sure and probably on the 19th as well if you guys are available. Probably be a couple weeks off after that but will know better when we get to christmas.

Yes Deamon you are very welcome. I would suggest Lotharingia or Norway/Sweden if you want lots of immediate interaction with other players, Hungary or Byzantium if you want little, Sicily if you feel like crusading (be aware that two players are looking at you very greedily right now)... But you do have a lot of choice.:wacko:

I would tend to answer no to 1 and yes to 2, but I would rather ask in advance so that there are no hard feelings and everything is clear in advance.

The mods we use changed the basic scenarios (but now we have played for over a century so every thing is changed anyway), the kingdom setup and add some new events (including a nasty one for vassals breaking free). That is all I can think of.
There are no new provinces added. CK is much less moddable in this respect than more recent games.

Can't remember how Ricky handles mods but with CK there is no selection of different mods - once you apply one it changes the game. So if you want an unmodded version you will have to have back up folders or a different install of the game.
