I have been playing the tutorial for a while now and not having any Stellaris experience I was overwhelmed at first and missed out on a few major missions, ie Bajor and the Borg. I just want to confirm but is there any way to liberate Bajor past a certain point? I tried declaring war with the Cardassians which didn't allow me to claim any planets (I figured out after this is a UFP mechanic without going section 31). I don't even see Bajorans on the contacts screen to be able to start the process. Would appreciate any help as otherwise I am stuck on my missions and can't proceed any further, it's basically a waiting game now to finish.

A someone who has played Stellaris since it came out, I can confirm that the mission mechanics are confusing af in this game. Aside from the mission tree (which seems only halfway-implemented), liberating Bajor just does not seem to work for me any way I try.

Hopefully these issues will get patched out. I like the idea of liberating Bajor, but it seems like there is a very small window in which to do it, and you'd better hope the Cardassians don't sign a defense pact with the Romulans/Klingons or it's gonna be a tough fight.

You have to support liberation in the Bajor diplomatic window. Then you have to demand Bajor's liberation in the Cardassian diplomatic window. When they refuse, that allows you to declare war. After selecting "declare war" in the Cardassian diplomatic window, you will see liberation as the war reason in the next window that pops up. Select that, and you are good to go. But when you go to war, you have to occupy the planet, not just the system, so land troops. Once you have liberated Bajor with your troops, the war will automatically end.

Enough to make we want to stop my Romulan game and begin a new Federation playthrough... THANK YOU!

Unfortunately for me I don't even have the Bajor diplomatic window as the Cards have already taken them over...

Yeah. I hate that the Cardies can take over Bajor, which shouldn't even be independent as they were annexed after the Cardies. Would be interesting if the developers could create a resistance mechanic that gives the Bajoran Resistance its own diplomatic screen that allows direct diplomacy.

If bajor is integrated already, then the only way to claim it is in a defensive war. That will fulfill the requirements for the mission tree even if you missed the opportunity to liberate before they were annexed.

Devastation is only that brief time of transition, between trying like heck to achieve a desired result and marshaling one’s resources prior to diving back into the fray.

Hi, I got the pop up saying I liberated Bajor, but the war continues and they are still occupied by cardassia - even though I've taken over the station and have armies on Bajor. Any ideas?!

This was not the case for me, I landed troops and the war continued on for another year and the message I received said the winner would be based on attrition basically.
