My liege, king of scotland, is on the most dumb crusade, fighting alone 12k+ armies with a force 10x smaller on the other side of the world and keeps raising my levies just to lose them again in the next battle, until war score is -100%. I think there should be something to prevent things like that.

Why? Sure, it doesn't really make sense in a gamey view of things, but historically some royalties were silly like that. Especially if they were proud. To me it sounds like a golden moment for England to conquer Scotland and take their throne, making you an English vassal rather than a Scottish one. :)

Well, to be fair, I sent crusading armies of 80k or more to take Ascalon from the Shia Caliphate, perhaps half a dozen times, and was beaten to a white peace each time.

Shortly after one of my crusades, I saw a few thousand Irish levies marching through my territory in Tripoli. Cracked me up a bit at the time, since they were only at war with Moray and I couldn't figure out what the Hell they were doing there.

Shortly after that, Ascalon was Irish.

The AI might tilt at windmills, but sometimes they really do turn out to be giants.

I've learned crusades could be quite stupid, but I don't know if that much. I don't have a good background on history as most here, but sending 1k men when you know there are 12k waiting for you...

That's not really true that crusades were stupid - crusades were politically and socially motivated religious movements that required vast cooperation, and no nation beyond France really participated until the Third crusade. The French often sent their crusaders to Spain, anyways. The whole mechanism that allows you to march through all land with no issue of borders is sort of silly. I shouldn't have to watch Qarakhanid armies arriving in Bulgaria.
