I am still fed up about this game being cancelled. I can't help thinking that Paradox could have done more to help move the process along, rather than just dumping everything.
In the end players want games that are fun, innovative and worth playing, and playing safe isn't necessarily the best option to make that happen.

paradox is pretty much in full recovery mode at the moment, they've released sooo many broken games, I don’t even need to use any bad words, just simply broken games. now you'd be fine assuming these games were just dev passion projects but that just isn't case, their biggest franchise game (cities skylines) was such a broken game that it took down both player bases from 1 and 2. 2 is still a mess regardless of all the patches they've done, it shouldn't have been released in the state that it was... and then there was lamplight, boy... what a waste, then they somehow, i cant even begin to imagine how, they took stellaris, gave it a lobotomy and branded it "star trek infinte".. now they're rightfully being extremely careful about what game they release next coz pdx just cant keep taking any more losses.

The articles linked in this thread said they already are looking at a 20 million dollar write off, that's a lot of money for an unfinished game. An they aren't EA or Rockstar with massive money to outlay like that.

Well, I'll at least give Paradox some credit for pulling the plug now, and not doing another Trek Infinite releasing it broke, unfinished and with a seemingly clear plan to cancel support in less than a handful of months.

Been wanting to post here for a while now, but I keep getting distracted. Think there is market for a small charming game set during California Gold Rush time period? Really sad the studio based there and with such a small team got a massive project instead of working on something in their home turf and with very little, if any competition.

Could be a lone gold miner at the start or maybe have a larger range of initial professions to start of. I had an idea of barber, preacher, farmer and after watching a bit of Yellowstone - rancher. Going into politics could also be a thing.

I think there was a similar game to that, but based on the Alaskan Gold Rush? It was sort of like Oregon Trail in a few ways.

This whole situation has been so frustrating. It feels like paradox management didn't pay enough attention to begin with, and then gave in to panic once they did. I have to wonder if there will be some job 'reshuffling' going on in the future.

Just randomly learned about LbY's cancellation when I noticed its forum was gone on the main page! Funny how the Sims was one of the OG franchises that inspired the "OK base game + a million DLCs" model that Paradox is now most well known for.

2023 and 2024 haven't been kind years for Paradox or its dev studios, without even getting into the trainwreck that was Empire of Sin. Hope top management is learning some lessons, but I'm not holding my breath.

What's the latest from The Lamplighter League? Haven't heard about that one in awhile.
