This might be important info for all scenario makers: Yesterday I discovered, that one can NOT preset more than 19 alliances (dynastic, vassal, military) in the incfile. From #20 on the game will crash.
For the IGC project this means: If we want to introduce any new alliances/vassalships in the future, we will have to delete some of the less important royal marriages first.

Hmm, up to #19 those ID´s obviously can be also in use otherwise (units etc.). So do You mean with 'completely unique' that from this point on, they shouldn´t be used by ANY other type of item (units, monarchs, leaders etc.)?

If the IDs are guaranteed to be unique, what you would need to do would be - think up an ID and search for it - if you can't find it - it must be available, and thus you can use it...
Oranje's FAQ should tell you this anyway... :p

For unit/alliance IDs it´s really quite easy like conqueristo said. Type [control] f and enter into the template 'id = [number here]'. (There have to be spaces around the =). If there´s no match, You can use the id.
It´s more problematic with monarch/leader ids, because these are spread among zillions of files. I currently used up ids up to 2427 and this ranges goes to 2500. We have to find out about the next free range of ids above that when Doomie comes back.
