Summary

[Linux] [1.11.1] [1.10.2] Stuttered animation with Vulkan, not with OpenGL

Description

I am still using 1.10.2 as I have an unfinished game. This lets me switch between OpenGL and Vulkan in the launcher. It appears that the Vulkan renderer has an inferior performance. This shows in the start screen already : with the OpenGL renderer, the three characters have fluid movements ; with the Vulkan renderer, the animation looks stuttered. Also, the highlighting when hoovering over menu entries looks somewhat delayed with Vulkan, while it is not with OpenGL. Since this is not good omen, I have not tried to actually load a game.

This is also the case with the 1.11.1 version.

On another hand, Dota2 runs flawlessly with Vulkan with maxed-out graphics settings.

As I understand, the Vulkan API takes a closer-to-hardware approach than OpenGL, which gives applications (and game engines) a greater responsability / leeway with respect to performance. As things are, it seems that some progress is necessary.

GPU is NVIDIA Corporation TU117 [GeForce GTX 1650] (rev a1) ; tested drivers are 525 and 545. OS is KUbuntu 22.04 with kernel 5.15.0-89-generic.

Steps to reproduce

Run the game to start screen and watch.
