Every single axis member nation except Germany (thank god), sends its entire airforce up to Lithuania. You get huge stacks of Brazilian naval bombers hanging out with spanish fighters and Italian torpeado planes. This is a horrible bug that has been here from day one and is not fixed. Please do something.

You know, this problem goes even deeper. Every AI nation does weird stuff with its airforce. The USA likes to keep huge stacks of 20+ planes sitting on guam doing nothing. Every now and then germany will send huge stacks of planes to some weird stupid province out in the middle of know where, like kuwait or something.

This bug is still here in 1.06. Its better then it used to be though. Italy still sends ALL its naval bombers and a few other aircraft up to lituania where they sit useless for the entire war. The good news is that spain and hungry and some other random axis countries dont really do this as much as they used to, but italy still does. THis sucks hard because that big stack of naval bombers could really really really help in killing british navy in the mediteranian.

Just curious. Are there known to be any difference in this when using different game settings and/or scenarios? And when does it start in a game session? Yeah, I read that it continues to the end, but when does it start? As soon as they becomes ally to Germany?

Sure, I saw a few Italian air units up there around the Lithuania/Baltic states, but as far as I remembers it from 1.05c, there were many Italian air units elsewhere. I can't remember any details, but again I haven't thought on this part of the problem as the worst game bug.

The first post in this thread indicates that this Lithuania sympthom was allready common knowledge. Shame on me, could someone point out the threads with all the information please? I would like to read more, but failed to find anything.

if you watch closely some moves from your allies you will be surprised what you find !

japanese fleets in the ostsee, italian planes on british soil.

spitfires fly from arabia to the home islands.

UK shamelessly ignores the neutrality of for example switzerland.
landing severall night bombers there.

japanese topedo bombers in the before moscow

etc... quite funny
:D

Yeah, I know, but that is a very broad scope. Sound not like one specific bug to me, but a mix of a general need for improved "smarter" AI, possibly inside the exe plus some separate bugs.

Some items truly sounds like narrowed down, specific, bugs. Like that landings of aircrafts in neutral country you mention (night bombers in Switzerland), that sounds more like a "breaking of rules" than a smarter AI to me. Its probably a good idea to keep the issues separated when possible, it will probably assist the developers
(granted that improving the AI could also include fixing bugs in the AI, but it could be two diffrent things).

Also, some allowence would be made for stupid AI moves (at least when no rules are broken). Stupid things happens even in real life. Even in the military. :D

Version 1.06?

I've become used to waiting for significant patches and checking what people have to say before buying a game.

However, the more I read on here the more I think I should have waited until version 1.09! :p

It is not that bad. HOI is a complex game that is still relatively easy to start playing. The scope is very big. A huge candy store.
The big number of posts depends on many things inmo. Firstly the game scope AND subject and the audiance for such a game (people like us :p , people not enjoying this type of game are... strange :D ), secondly it has a big success for modifying. There are several very interesting modifications of the game, thirdly, the developing company is tiny and seems to rely a lot on this forum which musn't be a bad thing at all(someone seasoned here may correct me plz, if I am too wrong).

Don't get me wrong, I've spent a fair few hours playing.

Obviously a lot of people are enjoying playing the game.

I respect the Paradox chaps, having enjoyed EU a lot (mainly because of the simulation element and the obvious amount of research that goes into what they do).

However, perhaps they should consider taking on someone with good technical writing skills to document their game *cough*. If I had not found this forum I'd have given up on HOI by now. ;)

I'm not one for mods in general, unless I am the one doing the modding. ;)

Game balance is a tricky thing and house rules rarely please everyone.

But, I did get as far as trying to install the C.O.R.E. stuff - tried and failed. The pesky thing starts up but nothing happens.

Anyhow, I'm not one for making destructive comments, I was just unfortunate enough to try the game just as 1.06 was released - and I hadn't realised until now that we are playtesting it. :D
