I downloaded the 1.05 patch. I then copied it from download into the file for HOI, but at the menu, it still says 1.02. Where exactly should I place the patch file?

You have to RUN the patch to install it, not copy it to the HoI directory . Also, you should get the 1.05c tweak pack from the sticky thread after 1.05 is installed. (1.05c is a zip file which you unzip into your HoI directory).
Thanks for all the help guys. I got the patch loaded. Not sure about 1.05c though. I copied it into the HOI directory then right clicked and hit "extract all." It went through the extraction process. When I loaded the game, the version number was so far over to the right (which is usual not a problem that has come up) that I only see "1.05" but do not see a "c". Can't tell if its there or not. Is there another way to see if I've got 1.05c loaded. I am so bad at this stuff I really appreciate all of your help. I've been playing at v. 1.02 for far too long.
