If you start a scenario, such as the grand campeign, and select to play a nation, such as China, and then load a saved game for that scenario for a different nation, such as Japan, problems will result.

The saved game will load fine, however you will find yourself playing whichever nation you selected previously in your new save - in this case I would find myself playing as China in my Japan game. If the country originally selected no longer exists in the saved game (such as if Japan conquered China), the game will crash. As a workaround, you must first surrender and go to the main menu before loading your saved game.

I'm not sure what happens if you load a save for a different scenario while playing a game.

This is not a bug but a feature. It is handy for people playing "what if" games where they manipulate opponents into a desired position.
This was also in EU1 and will not be changed.
The answer is to notate your saved games so you know what they are :)

Some sort of explanation somewhere (manual, readme, load button rollover, a warning popping up after the game is loaded, etc...) would seem neccessary here, as it is rather counter-intuitive. The games default savenames allready annotate name and date, which is fine with me.

IIRC there was some info on this in the EU1 FAQ forum. It's been an undocumented, and appreciated feature since EU1.

Hopefully this will make it's way into the EU2 FAQ forum.

.............. lol.....over to State Machine... :)
