Loading CK Export File CTD

I am using Windows XP (all service packs and updates)
1G RAM, 3.4Ghz Pentium 4.
Export CK file to EU2, move the file to EU2 save game folder. Close CK, open EU2, attempt to load Export file. During loading a read error appears (differing lines with differing export files) with the (abort, retry, ignore) choices. Any selection causes CTD. Everytime.

Is there some "trick" to using the CK Export files in EU2? (There isn't much in the way of help on the subject.)
 
What EU2 patch are you on?
 
Let me track down someone that is a little more knowledgable about the convertor than me. I seem to remember there may have been a problem and one of the games you need the beta patch to make it work but I am not sure about this.

Do you get any text/error message with those read errors?

Can you zip and mail me one of the exported saves to havard[@]crusader-kings.com (remove []s)?
 
Help me out here: What's the date on the 1.08a eu2.exe? I have too many versions installed here... :p

Do you have a chance to try the EU2 1.08b beta? I have just loaded your save all fine in that.

Well that figures. I loaded up the CK 1.04b to see if that was the problem 50/50 chance and I guessed wrong (didn't work). I'll download the EU2 beta and see if that fixes things. Again, thanks for your assistance.

Hi,

I loaded the 1.08b off the 15 Aug 05 thread that is dated 21 Apr 05. I get the same results as before. The file "export" shows up in the save game list. When I click on it, only three kingdoms appear in the select window. selecting one brings up the "unexpected" "abort, retry, fail" window. I'm wondering if maybe the export file has to be in the scenario folder? Other than deleting EU2 and reinstalling, is there anything else I can try?

I'm pretty sure I loaded it from the save games folder (although placing it in the scenario folder should work too), and I definitely got more than three countries in the select window...

The errors you get would indicate that the EU2 install isn't entirely up to latest version, so a reinstall might solve that.

A complete reinstall worked - not sure what part was causing the problem, but went through it all, including the "mini-patch" for the beta and it worked. Kind of funny seeing the results of the CK in EU.
