Hi all. New to Hearts of Iron, but am a long time war gamer going back to the old Avalon Hill board games (I still have them). Just bought the Hearts of Iron Anthology and can't get it to load. When I start the CD, I get a menu for the four programs on it: HOI, HOI2, Doomsday, and Armageddon. When I click on one of them, I get a message from Windows that says the program has stopped running and that Windows is searching for a solution. Then it tells me that Windows will close the program. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. Since I can't get the program to load in the first place, it has no updates or mods. I also noticed that when I go to the Computer screen, I don't get a HOI type icon in the CD drive, only a generic Windows icon. Do I simply have a bad program disk or is there some other problem. Please help if you can, I'm really interested in trying this game as WWII is my special interest.

Thanks in advance, Zman

Its a Vista issue with the autorun installer.

Here is the workaround

Do not use the installer that pops up when you put in the CD.

Instead you have to explore the cd and find the appropriate setup file for the game you want to install and install it that way.

Thanks. I got the program to load, however the screen is offset to the left cutting off a portion of the left information and leaving a blank strip on the right. I have the same problem with some of my older games as well. Can I fix that as well?

Thanks again, Zman
