I’ve Steam-uninstalled BATTLETECH and still had my saved campaigns and custom load-outs when I reinstalled BATTLETECH

I’ve used Edmon’s Guide for Cleanly Uninstalling BATTLETECH, and somewhere in the extra folders that Edmon directs us to delete, I’ve lost my campaigns and load-outs.

In my signature block below, you’ll find the link to Edmon’s guide. If you check it out, you’ll likely be able to find the files you are looking for in the... I believe it was three folders Edmon draws our attention too.

Good luck and (hopefully soon enough!) good BATTLETECH gaming!

Found my notes... here's what they say about save game locations:
Steam -
WIN: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\ 637090\remote\C#\SGS#'
OSX: ‘/Users/"USER_ID"/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/"ACCOUNT_ID"/637090/remote/C#/SGS#’

GOG -
WIN: ‘C:\Users\USER_ID\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\50593543263669699\Storage\Shared\Files\C#\SGS#’
MAC: ‘~\Library\Application Support\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\50593543263669699\Storage\Shared\Files\C#\SGS#’

Everything Else
WIN: 'C:\Users\USER_ID\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BattleTech\C#\SGS#'
MAC: ‘~\Library\Application Support\Harebrained Schemes\BattleTech\C#\SGS#'

(Note that the tilde is a shortcut used by Unix-like OSes for the user's home directory... which I believe is the same as that /Users/"USER_ID" prefix under the Steam entry. I haven't yet done anything with my saves, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of any of these... not even the one that applies to my system.)

I very much appreciate the input and advice, I've been sitting here for a good week not touching the game until I know more, too afraid to reinstall without backups. I have two campaigns and too many saved loadouts to afford losing.

Not blaming anyone here but myself; we all know the third party more put us at risk for this sort of thing. I loaded up fully expecting I might need to conduct damage control; just waiting until I have the information I need to reload safely.

I trust all turned out well?

Yes, sorry for my lateness in responding to my thread, but I got pulled elsewhere, and (semi) patiently waited on a resolution to this, not wanting to be rash just to get my mech fix and end up blowing away my saved campaigns, which was of course my biggest fear.

Although the exact directory paths were not the same as some of you listed, I was able to intuitively sift through the directory, aided by folder searches.

The SGS folder appears to have what I was after, in the form of .sav files, but I was dubious because of the small size.

I did the same in the LocalLow and Steam profile.

I uninstalled the game through Windows, and downloaded a fresh copy off Steam.

Surprisngly, it all worked.

While I backed up the .sav files and a few other adjacent files that looked crucial, all those files apparently survived the reinstall, and i did a test run of my campaigns overnight...mission accomplished.

What did get overwritten were my custom edits of the mech variant files, but I've had those backed up on in a desktop folder for months.

Especially my edited CPLT-C1 files...with a quick text edit I opened the Caty's missile pods up to three hardpoints per side.

My rationale, as some others here, is the stock mech is ridiculous as a dedicated missile boat with just two missile hardpoints, especially given the ballistic/missile hybrid Jager has 4 slots out of the box.

Mainly, it opens up the chassis to my LRM5×6 refit of the C1, which I've run elsewhere. I rely on Catys heavily in my campaign, and while the salvo density is unchanged, dropping a pair of 15's for a 6-pack of 5's doubles the bombardment capacity of the C1.

IMHO, one of the best and easiest upgrades you can give the mech, by opening two tons for extra ammunition. Usually, that's enough reloads to bomb two enemy lances without mercy.

On paper, this should make the mech run hotter than normal, but I noticed that the game by default chain fires weapon groupings, which I think helps with the heat spikes.

Thank you all again.
