Having decided that Cities: Skylines needs more diversity in settings, I gave myself the project of modeling some desert flora. First, I modeled a saguaro cactus and imported it as a tree, and in-game, up-close, it looks the way I expect.

However, I noticed that when I put the cactus in a city and scroll away, it disappears. Naturally, I imagine that it needs a lower level of detail (LOD) model. But when I checked the Wiki, the requirements for textures were discussed, but there was no mention of LOD models.

The only hints I've been able to glean from this forum so far are that I need to make a lower-detail model with under 100 tris and that its filename needs to end in "_LOD.fbx". However, having done this, I still have the same problem.

If I'm doing something wrong, I'd appreciate it if someone could point out the relevant information so I can fix my models. When I get it right, I can write this up in the Wiki.

Otherwise, is this a bug that's just affecting imported tree models right now?
