I own CK2. I learned how to play CK2 through watching a rather exhaustive set of "let's play" videos on YouTube made by SeeKayEm. Were it not for those, I don't know how I'd have learned to play the game as the tutorial left a lot to be desired IMO.

I just fired up the demo of this game and was greeted by an interface that might as well be written in a foreign language.

How is the tutorial for this game? Is there a nice set of videos somewhere that will teach me how to navigate/play the game?

The game is on sale for about another 7 hours and it's only £6 which means I'll probably buy it even if this thread doesn't really get many responses. I'd just like to know what I am getting myself into before I pull the trigger.

What's the general feeling about this game?.. good, bad, indifferent? I'm seeing very mixed opinions.

I've personally enjoyed it and I'm still playing. There are a good number of Let's Play's in AARland which you might want to check out, here is a link to the list of all AARs and Let's Play's.

Regarding the interface, have you tried clicking the golden exclamation marks? They will provide a little bit on information of the interface you are looking at, and can be very helpful.

Its really intuitive if you played other paradox games.

It might take a while for you to understand frontage (Unless you played HoI) or games that use similar mechanics. Frontage will determine how many troops will be able to fight at the same time in a battle.

It is better to have small armys with good unit composition than having 100k deaths stacks armys. Depending the nations and bonus they recibe due to their national ideas the composition varies.

Best thing you should start off with learinging is -
*Good unit compositon (Acording to the nation u play)
*Make sure your units dont run out of supply (Supply trains attached to armys) or move army back to friendly territory to re-supply
*If u are not Great Britain, avoid building ships, they own the sea and it is reallllyyyy hard to engage them in the vanilla version, a waste of invested resources :p.

I started my first game with spain so i would't be focued by no one and could play un molested until i got the grasp of some basics (Like for instance.. if u want gibraltar.. get ready for a all game siege) Cause u need to siege and bloqueade but GB navy will come and break your blokeade always :p.

Unfortunately I've run through the tutorial which isn't much help but frankly I haven't got a clue what any of it is about. Far too much of it is left unexplained to the point where it's impossible to play.

As I say, unfortunately it looks like another case of CK2, which I was only ever able to learn to play through watching about 20 hours worth of exhaustive and thorough let's plays/tutorial games on Youtube. As of yet I can't find anything of similar usefulness for this game as most of the videos offer little to no explanation of what is being done.

It's disappointing really and I don't understand why it's assumed that people will know what any of this stuff means without any explanation. It's so lacking in any sort of help that you can't even learn by playing because for all the sense it makes you might as well be clicking buttons at random.

there are also lots of "Lets play" videos and video AAR's on youtube.
