Hey, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I tried turning every setting to as low as it will possibly go, and I still get to a point where the game is unplayable. Specifically, when a crusade was launched, the game gets super laggy and choppy, you cant pan the camera even remotely smoothly, and clicking play you can see the game struggle to progress day to day.

I mentioned in another thread, but wanted to follow up. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro. And I have an AMD (4GB) graphics card. I thought my machine met all of the minimum specs to play this game, but am I wrong, or is there a bug currently? I’m just curious if I need to seriously consider getting a new computer to play this game, or if there is something on Paradox’s end that might change to make this game playable on my current computer?

Thanks

Let's have a look at your setup.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

I will post all of this when I get home this evening! But as an update, I broke down and installed boot camp on my MacBook Pro, and CKIII runs very well in windows, so it does seem like something must be off for the game in Mac OS. So I’ll post everything later, because I would like to see if this can get sorted out.

Thanks!

Had trouble saving as a .txt but here are the attachments and I copied everything and just put it in the message here... hopefully that works, but just let me know!

Additionally, I changed some settings in the "Battery saving settings" in Mac OS to have the dedicated GPU set to always on, and then these were the settings I fund in the steam system help. For what its worth, I tried CKIII under these conditions and experienced the exact same issues as previously stated.

No real clue in there, I begin to suspect the Mac version simply needs better optimisation. This is mainly affected an existing game , is that right? A new campaign is okay to start with?

I actually haven’t tried starting a new game, so I might try that next. But it was choppy when I started this game, just got unplayably worse at the 1st crusade

Out of curiosity, does this mean that Paradox working on further optimizing CKIII for Mac OS?
I'm not in the dev loop for this game I'm afraid (working on it!). But with the serious issues we are seeing on Windows (game not starting, corrupted cloud save games), in all honesty I doubt this issue is top of the priority list just yet, I'm sorry.

I'm a Mac user myself so it won't be off the table while I'm in this job! Once things settle down here I hope to have time to engage the devs in this issue.

Well I hope they make some progress on the Mac OS side of things. Thankfully, it is working in Bootcamp for me at the moment at least
