Given they even said it was in the cards post release, I wouldn't be surprised. I just wouldn't assume it comes early. We don't know if this is true or not, they might support it after release + hotfix, no need to jump to conclusion lol.

I don't know if I'd call it a boycott, but I certainly won't be buying EU5 if I can't run it. Not much of a point...Yeah, they said it here. But given their lack of interest to fixing CTD bugs on EU4 that apparently make Mac unplayable and are very annoying on Linux, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do other OSs.
I suppose the best way to get them support other OSs is not to buy the game. If they see that users who have played other OS versions of previous games are buying the game on Windows, they conclude there's no need for other OS versions.
Please note that I'm only stating what I consider a fact, or at least a good guess, on how the system works. I'm not asking for any action or inaction from other users. Before answering this, note that the CoC forbids calls for boycotts.
Many Linux players would try running it via proton and most probably will succeed. Wine generally is mature enough to provide near native expirience but having a native game is so much better due to occasional Wine bugs and the project being entirely focused on the graphical perfomance, what is going to happen to a CPU-limited game is unknown to meI don't know if I'd call it a boycott, but I certainly won't be buying EU5 if I can't run it. Literally everything in the message applies to Mac as wellI’m on a Mac, not Linux.
Proton doesn’t exist on Mac. The closest equivalent Wine wrapper for games, Crossover, is nowhere near as sophisticated, it is full of bugs and generally not anywhere close to native performance. There’s three or four different DirectX to Metal translation options and frankly none of them are anywhere near reliable enough for general gaming. CPU performance is particularly rough as it also must go through Rosetta 2 translation from x86 to ARM.Literally everything in the message applies to Mac as well
It is actually. The full potential of Proton is used only on SteamOS by utilizing packages and solution that might not be installed on most other distros and even then need to be configured, Without all of that additional SteamOS stuff Proton is reducible to Wine + some additional configuration which is completely achievable by any user, let alone Crossover.Crossover, is nowhere near as sophisticated
I really hope you also considering Steam OS and Linux in general. There are currently no plans for anything else than Steam and Windows.
Sorry to hear this. I’m going to miss playing Paradox games. There are currently no plans for anything else than Steam and Windows.

I guess we'll just have to stick with V3, by the time EU5 finally does come out maybe it'll be the superior game.I'm curious if Linux players running through Proton show up as player counts for Linux or Windows when the data hits PDX? It must be Linux right? They clearly know how many players are on each OS and have figured this is the best allocation of resources, but man it still sucks.
I'm just switching to dual booting now as I need Windows programs occasionally, but I'm probably gonna be hitting 90% of time on Linux soon, and PDX games are a major part of that uptime. It would suck to have to go back to Windows for EU5 considering how much better Vic3 runs on Linux.
As someone who has spent thousands of hours and hundreds of euros on EU4, I'm genuinely disappointed in the Paradox Tinto team for dropping MacOS support. Over the years, Apple has made porting games to Mac significantly easier, and previous titles always included Mac support. So why not this time? Why suddenly abandon part of your fanbase, and only mention it in a short forum reply? There are currently no plans for anything else than Steam and Windows.
