According to the official EUGold Wiki, in order to bring up the screen for console commands you need to simultaneously hold down 'alt' and '2' and '1' on the number pad. This isn't working with my iMac. I also tried using 'alt' with the '2' and '1' just below the function keys, but there's no joy there, either.

As a lark I tried hitting the 'tilde' key, which is supposed to do the job on some of the newer Paradox games, but still no joy, just as the function key that worked on the older Paradox games doesn't work here.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Assuming the console commands cannot be made to work, can anyone tell me how to mod a country's starting position? I can't find a 'nations' data base in the… well, database.

I thought it was 2 and then 1 not at the same time, but I could be wrong. And there is not any console command I can think of to mod a country's starting position. if you have not register your game and that gives you access to the modification sub forum.

Okay, first, thank you for responding.

Second, I've tried them ( 2 and 1) both sequentially and simultaneously, and neither way works.

Third, modding the starting position (or situation) is the emergency fallback if the console commands can't be made to work.

Fourth, how do I register a game? I thought I was registered, since Steam thinks I'm registered, but apparently you're correct that I am not, because I cannot get into the modding forum.

have you synced your account since here you got the game on steam?

If you got to your "owned items" under your name on the top right there is an option to sync accounts.

Clicking on 'sync owned items' doesn't seem to do anything. Also, I own several Paradox games which are not on Steam (Crusader Kings Complete, EU2, EU Rome Gold, HOI2 Complete, Victoria Complete, Victoria 2), so I assume those will not be synced.

So just to be clear you have Rome on Steam and have synced your account but don't have access to the modding forum?

No, I have Rome, but not on Steam.

What I have on Steam are Crusader Kings 2 (along with ten or twelve add-ons) and HOI 3 (along with a couple of updates).

I have not synced my account. I have hit the 'sync owned items' button, but nothing happened. I just checked again and it still says 0/54 items have been synced. When I click the button it briefly changes from blue to grey, then back to blue again.

Ok. I will send a note to an Admin to look at this thread.

For the console command issue, check out the CK2 wiki:
http://www.ckiiwiki.com/Console_commands

For non-Steam games, you get a forum registration key from the vendor - in the box if a physical copy, otherwise in your Amazon or Gamersgate or whoever online account. I belive Rome on Mac is a Virtual Programming port, so check with them at www.vpltd.com .

Put that key in the Register a Game tab on top of this forum.

You would have to link your Paradox and Steam accounts first, in your Paradox account's Settings menu.

I have; it doesn't help. Just to be sure I just tried it again. It suggests that either command+6 or the back-tick should open the command console. Neither does. In other places I've seen it suggested that either the tilde or F10 buttons should do the trick. F10 will work on some of the oldest games (CK, EUII, HOI2), but not on any of the newer games. The tilde does nothing.

I have a Forum Code for EURome, which I entered, but the result was 'no such code found'.

I have been to my settings menu. I fail to see how to do what you're describing. I thought maybe External Accounts would be the appropriate place, but that only has to do with 'Associating with Facebook', whatever that means.

I tried again to enter a Forum Code, this time for Crusader Kings Complete, and that was disallowed because that wasn't an available game option. (What?) Likewise there was no option for Victoria Complete or Hearts of Iron II Complete, and I have no Forum Code for EUII. I asked VPLTD and they said that EUII requires no code.

So, I'm totally lost.

Under Settings are two lines; the first is Email Address is Verified, the second is Steam. Click on the Connect button next to Steam.

That is correct as the forum registration system did not exist when CK1 was released. Same for EU2, Vic1, or HOI2. There are codes for HOI2:Armageddon, CK1:Deus Vult, And Vic1:Revolutions expansions though. But you don't need to register codes for those games to get access to their forums.

I am not seeing what you are. Under Settings there are many lines: Personal Details, Signature, Contact Details, Privacy, Preferences, Alert Preferences, People You Follow, People You Ignore, External Accounts and Password. There are no lines I can see for either 'Email Address is Verified' or 'Steam'.

I am not trying to gain access to those forums. I am trying to gain access to the Mods forum to find out how to mod a game because I can't get the Console to appear. All of this game registration stuff was things I was told to do to gain access to the Mods forum. If there's an easier way to do that, I'd love to hear it, because registering isn't working.

You are looking at settings of your forum account. I'm talking about your Paradox account

I had no idea that Paradox and the forum were seperate. Thank you for clearing that up.

The syncing procedure started, at least, though it seems to have stalled at 10 of 54. Can you please provide a link to the Mod forum, as I am unable to locate it using either the search function or the table of contents.

from the main forum if you click on Rome you don't see a mod sub-forum, tech support sub-forum, bug report sub-forum...etc?
