Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

I can open up the game fine, but when I click single player, and want to start as a country, or simply zoom in, my whole Mac freezes and I'm forced to reboot completely.

Can anyone help me out? I'm running the lowest graphics setting in the game.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.

From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Have the same problem. Came back to try Livy after a few weeks of not playing, before which the game ran fine, to find myself unable to start or zoom in on the map without the game stalling out.

Tried switching off mods and DLC, updating to Catalina, clean reinstalls, the shadowmap adjustment with no change.

Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Processor: 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

Are you getting an Apple crash reports? If so please paste its contents into a text file and attach that here.

And Documents/paradox/imperator/logs/exceptions.log

Glad I went to all the trouble of posting all my relevant crash files in here only to have my post deleted.
It was deleted because you posted across several threads. No harm done , but please confine yourself to one, preferably one of your own.

I do apologise for this problem, which is a crash that happens on MacOS 10.15 only with this game. It only happens on Macs with video hardware that is below the minimum requirement for the game, so far either Intel video systems or nVidia GeForce 650M.

I have lodged a new bug report on it to the developers, and attached your ticket and many other such reports to that bug report.

Despite it only happening on unsupported hardware I do hope and expect that it will be fixed, but whether that fix will make the next game patch 1.3.2 is unknown at present.

In the meantime you can revert to the game patch 1.2 in the Steam Betas tab for the game, which doesn't have this problem.

I posted those files exactly once. I went to the trouble of finding them and posting them in order to help with the issue. I won't bother doing it again. It's just annoying that you are deleting the posts of people who are trying to help.

@AndrewT I'm not using OS 10.15, I'm using Mojave (I didn't upgrade to Catalina), as the title says. Is this irrespective of operating system? Just a question of graphics card?
Since posting that I've had one report of this on 10.14.6 , on an nVidia 650M video card - also well below minimum spec for this game. So clearly my impression that the issue required 1.3 and 10.15.x and under-spec cards needs revisiting ... !

So the freeze issue on my mac is occurring and I have the graphics card:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1 GB
I believe this is above spec. (650 is req?)

Other details:
3.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Catalina 10.15.1

I'm a little skeptical that the graphics card may be causing the "freeze upon start" issue that we're seeing as this game theoretically requires processing power and not graphics power. But hey I could be mistaken on that.

I just ordered a new machine for academics and I was hoping to keep it strictly for that purpose, but the graphics card is (AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory). I make a point to never upgrade graphics as per the processing tendency mentioned above. Let me know your thoughts.

The published minimum is the AMD® Radeon™ R9 M380 with 2GB Vram. The 750M has about 1/4 the GPU power of the R9 M380:
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GeForce-GT-750M-vs-AMD-R9-380/m7928vs3482

So yes, I fear you fall into the same category as others with the same symptoms.

As I say above I've logged a bug with the devs anyway, we'll see what happens from that.

How will we know if the devs act on it or not? I'd just like ot know when it will be worth while actually trying to play the game again. Thank you for your help Andrew!

Well, the devs don't typically post progress reports ion bugs being worked on ... certainly if I hear either way I'll be asking for an official statement to be published ASAP.
