The Files are at the bottom, if you need more, tell me.

they are very basic, as right now my objective is just to get the map running, and I will add detail later. I removed in Positions.txt the refrences to provinces I had changed, but I did not add anything since I read somewhere that the computer will create these files if you don't feel like adding them. the texture files in the cache folder were also deleted. Here is the report form the error log:
Code:

Clausewitz Error[texturehandler.cpp:107]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx\\test\\menu_tiles_2.tga.

Importent Announcment

This mod will be put on hold for a little bit until I have time to look at those Map files. If someone else would like to (the post is in the Rome-user modifications subforum), be my guest. Currently, the map is not working. I am too busy right now to look at those files. But I promise you: This mod will not die!!!! :)

Ok, I have a problem: all the files I was working on were lost in a computer crash.

Mod resumes/Ancient Cultures in Palestine/Israel

Ok, I will resume working on this mod tomarrow. In the meantime, while I am working on the map I will pose this problem to you, and ask for your suggestions on it.

Ok, In Palestine at the time of David, their would have been 5 primary cultures in Israel:
Judean
Philistine-inhabitants of the coastal plain of palestine, invaders from around the black sea, likely the 'Sea People' who attacked egypt.
Edomite-Inhabitants of Edom, related to Judeans distantly (e.g., Macedonia to Greece)
Moabite-Inhabitants of Moab, related to Edomites closely and judeans in the same way as the judeans.
Arabs

After the judeans returned after they left Babylon, Several new cultures emerged:
Samaritans-Thought to be refuges resetteled in Judea after the isrealites were deported Similar to judean culture, claimed to be the ten lost tribes of Israel, although they regularly fought with the Judeans
Moabites-Wiped out as a culture apparently
Idumeans-Basically the edomites, except that Edom was now known as Idumea
Greeks-Greeks began founding settelments soon after Alexander the Great
captured Samaria.
Judean (Judea)-Judeans living in Judea proper
Judean (Galilee)-Judeans living in Galilee, thought of somewhat as country bumpkins by the rest of the Judeans.
Philistine-the philistines apparently survived the deportations of the babylonians.
Arabs
During the War of the Maccabees, the jews in galilee and he east bank of the jordan river were evacuated, but then around 100 BC, these areas were reconquered. and the inhabitants there were given a choice of leaving, or converting to Judaism. The same happened to Idumea, where Herod the Greats grandparents chose to convert. Most greeks evacuated Judea, fearing they would be killed. Samaria was conquered, but the Samaritans never converted. The Samaritan Temple on mount Gerizm was destroyed, although the Samaritans continued to worship in the ruins. I have no idea how to represent this in game terms, espescially the conversion of the non-jews in Galilee, Idumea and elsewhere.

Announcement!-Beta 0.1 tomarrow!

Tomarrow, I intend to release beta version 0.1. This version does not include the new map, as I haven't had time to fiddle with it in a while, but it will include the following:

*New scenario: War of the Maccabees-Lead the Judeans to freedom from the Seleucid Empire. Starts in 167 BC/587 AUC.

*New Scenario-John Hyrcanus-Fight back a new Seleucid invasion, and crush the Judean rebels under Ptolemy

*New Hasamonean family tree & new Judeans-Including Judah Maccabee, Jonathan Maccabee, Mattathis Maccabee, Ptolemy, et al.

*Realistic population data for Judea

*4 New forms of government-I will tell you 1, but the rest you will have to wait and see :D

*Revised names for all positions in Judea, e.g. Nasi, Chancellor, Segan, etc.

*Seperate version compatible with the Epigoni Mod

*The new form of Government is Jewish Monarchy, it gives 1 military NI, 1 civic NI (or economic-I forgot) and 2 religous NI. The benefit it provides is 15% bonus to discipline (representing the deep determination the jewish rebels had in fighting the Seleucids & other invaders). The title for a male leader is Kohen Gadol & Malkia (High Priest and King). For female it is Malka (Queen). This represents the system of government whereby the High Priest was simultaneously the king.

Expect the Beta tomarrow!

Going to have to revise this because of computer problems.

Ok, expect Beta 0.1 tomarrow.

Looking forward to it.

I like that sound of the new government. Lots of detail which I like to.

Are the Judeans going to have a fighting chance against the Empire ?

They should be able to hold them off, but it definitely won't be a walkover. The revised population figures should help, as now Judea will have enough people to field some troops.

Anyway though, I'm still having trouble with my computer, so the release is still delayed. I am very sorry, to keep telling you to expect a release, only to have to tell you that I am still having trouble with my computer. The next announcement for release; the beta will be running.

Except women can't be Kohen Gadol. Only men can be Kohanim. Hebrew for King is "Melekh". And I'm pretty sure the KG/M fusion was unique to the Hasmoneans because they were Kohanim. There'd have to be a change in government form for a king from a dynasty that isn't a Kohen. Our laws are very confusing ;).

A queen would only have the title of queen. In cases where a female is queen, the Kohen Gadol would be represented by the Segan, as well as three other forms of government, where the Kohen Gadol is not the ruler. I haven't even changed the titles around yet though, I havne't had time.

Beta 0.1 is basically done, but I am going to finish the map before releasing it since it's pretty pointless since Judea has nowhere to expand.

Looking forward to giving it a try.

Still working on the map, sorry for the slow progress, but I've been busy. In the meantime, here is the flag of the Samaritans (The Samaritans were autonomous before the Maccabean revolt, albeit as a satellite of the Ptolemies, later of the Seleucids. After the Maccabean Revolt, with the Seleucid Empire breaking up in Syria and Palestine, the Samaritans were de-facto independent from the Seleucids, until the Judean king John Hyrcanus conquered them in roughly 111/110 BC).

The text on the flag is in Samaritan Hebrew and reads "Mount Gerizim" which is where the Samaritan temple was located, and was also the center of Samaritan cultural life.
