Something weird's going on in my game.

I have Rome VV with the latest patch.

I'm playing Rome as a Dictatorship. In the Government interface, all the Councillors and Magistrates have hour-glass icons at the top left of their portraits to denote that these characters haven't served full terms, and that dismissing them early will have ramifications. I understand this and appreciate the visual cue given by the game designers.

When hovering the mouse pointer above the hour-glasses belonging to the Councillors (in the Government interface still), the tool-tip tells me that they expect to hold the position for life. When I do so for the Magistrates, the same again. Fair enough; autocratic regimes generally dislike regular variation in officials. It makes it harder for the ruler to know them, and hence, control them. This makes sense to me.

Unlike Councillors though, you can also appoint Magistrates via the Technology interface. Here however, these same Magistrates have finite terms and can be dismissed without repercussions, such as loyalty and pretige hits, after a set term. In this interface, their hour-glass informs me of the date of their expected term completion, and upon this date disappears, as would normally be the case under a republic.

This seems odd to me. If there's anyone out there playing as a Dictator, do you think you could check to see if you have the same discrepency? Is it wrong (a bug perhaps) for my game to be allowing me to dismiss these Magistrates without penalty in the Technology interface, but not in the Government interface? Or is it wrong for my game to be showing them as having life-time terms in the Government interface and not the Technology interface? Do Magistrates hold their position for life or not in a Dictatorship?

This is my first post. I tried to look and see if anyone else has had this issue before but I didn't find anything. If I overlooked anything I apologise. I apologise also if I posted this in the wrong forum. I only just bought the game a couple of weeks ago, and with a game this complex, this "discrepency" could be a purposeful part of it for all I know. I'm not sure that it qualifies for a bug report.

Thanks in advance for your time.

EDIT: When I hover the mouse over the Magistrate's hour-glass on the Government it doesn't in fact say they expect to hold the position for life. If I click through and hover the mouse over the resign button it says nothing. So they have a standard two year term....but on my game at least, they always have an hour-glass shown on their portrait on just that one interface even if their term is over.

Yes it does still occur. Their term is 6 years actually, I think. Same as governors under a Dictatorship. I think it's confused with Imperium. Under Imperium, all posts appear to be for life. As I say, I can dismiss the Magistrates after their term is over via either interface without penalties. It's merely misleading to have an hour glass shown in the Government one. It confused me at first and is bound to confuse new players.
