Johan, Patric, Greven. You have made a great game. But there is one major flaw, which actually is unacceptabel! As far as I know, everyones copy of EU crashes now and then. But with the new patch, it crashes every 45 min. It's really irritating when you have played 5 years without saving! Now, luckily enough, I've begun to save often. But, it is completely unacceptabel that the finished version has such a major flaw!

This is not an insult of you as persons, or of the gameplay, because I really love this game!

But I must warn you. Time is short. Right now we have a breathing space. The thunder of cannons has stopped. Fighting has ceased. If we are to create an United European States, whatever name and form it will take, we must start now!

Please revert to 1.01.

We've removed 1.02 from downloadable until we have sorted out that problem.

I loaded the patch this morning, edited the .eug file so I could start a GC as Venice, and played for 6 hours straight with no crash...

In fact, I have never experienced a crash with the game, except one circumstance when the game ALWAYS quits. If the game is on the Main Menu (Einzelspieler, Mehrerespieler, etc.), and I use ALT-TAB to return to the windows screen then the game disappears. But if the game is actually running (or paused) and I use ALT-TAB, I have had no problems whatsoever switching between different programs. Just so you know that this may not be a universal problem.

Wow, I'm very impressed Johan. You quickly took action and removed it, and also answered so quickly! Not the kind of service Firaxis gives you ! :)

Keep up the good work, Johan, and you can count on me buying Svea Rika 3

After downloading the 1.02 patch yesterday at 3pm I played the game (GC) five hours without any problems !

I think its a problem with spezial PC configurations, so plz let the patch be downloadable with the advice to step back to 1.01 IF any crashproblems occur !

Greetings
Gan.

hmmm - i downloaded the patch 1.02 half hour before they deleted it from this website - now if i try to start the game i get only a black screen and then it kicks me back to the desktop. Bug or feature (-: ?
Also i noticed when i freshly installed the game ver 1.0 from CD, i can't start it, because it keeps asking me for an avi file on drive E: - but i have 2 CD-ROM's (one reader, one writer) and i installed it from drive F: - and after the 'Abort, repeat, ignore' question the game quits with an error message. This all sounds like some copy protection shit, hopefully not again in the next patch release !
I went back then to 1.01 and have no problem to start it.

I knew it !!!
Installed game from my first CD-ROM drive (E:, the cd burner drive) and it worked all, also the patch 1.02.
I thought we have past this old copy protection, 1 or 2 years ago we had this already and now again ! Like you see, I have a burner but however, I bought the game. If I wanna get an illegal copy I dont have to copy CD's, in times of DSL download speed I go to next warez page and download a whole fully cracked game, so for what spend time in this copy protection shit. Anyway, the best copy protection of EU is the handbook, without the game is quite useless.
BTW: I like the game very much, one of best (real time ?) strategy games I ever played, thats at least my first impression.
So, please you programers out there, dont waste your time in the copy protection but pls fix the game play bugs, that's more important. When can we expect the next patch ?

After installing patch 1.02 I also experienced being kicked back to my desktop when I tried to start the game. I thought it was becaused I played without the cd inserted but I'm getting the same error with the cd in the drive.

As for the earlier versions I've NEVER experienced a crash in the game - and sometimes I've kept the game going for 5-6 hours.

I´ve never been asked to insert the CD. In fact I hope that this will stay as it is, because it´s very annoying having to insert a CD everytime! I deem it justified and sufficient as a copy protection on the other hand, that burning is 'disabled'.

I played the game today for 8 hours with 1.02. No problems...PII350, 128 MBRAM, PCI TNT...

It was a minor problem with some machines..

a new updated patch will be out tomorrow..

Well, I hate to rain on a parade, but I installed the 102b patch and I am experiencing some random crashes to the desktop. No error messages, no warnings...just click on something on the map (and not the same thing either) and BOOM...desktop.

I uninstalled, reinstalled the game, repatched and tried again. Same problem, but now it crashes earlier. Gads.

I have a Pentium 450, 128 mb ram, Voodoo3 AGP vid card, Soundblaster Live! sound card, and a standard mouse/keyboard. Any ideas?

Please help...I want to play this great game! (Before the first crash, I experienced no crashes until about 5 hours in....and I was just in the middle of totally messing up my kindom of England too....) :(

I had the exact same problem, but I redesignated my F: and E: devices and it worked fine. Annoying, perhaps even unacceptable, but non-fatal. I get no crashes though.
