Hey community,

as far as I can see we got two major conversions so far: Roguetech and ConsolidatedCompanyCommander (CCC).

As I am trying to choose my mod setup for the next few weeks of Battletech. Has someone played both and can give a brief summary of what the main differences are so one can easily choose? The documented changes aren't that easy to compare when you haven't played a lot and thus can't judge what is really important throughout a campaign.

I read up on their changes etc. and it seems Roguetech goes a bit further (InnerSphereMap etc.) and CCC keeps closer to the vanilla feeling and allows you to play the main campaign.

Thanks

I think you're right that this is one of the main differences. CCC is a tuned campaign game, whereas RT is an open universe, with many more options for Mech customization, and where the factions are at war with each other. So instead of campaign missions, the priority missions in RT are "faction war" missions. So it really depends on what you want to do first.. ;)

Great Question!

Rogue Tech is focused on the sandbox experience while trying to add as many things from the Battletech universe as possible. It has an amazing amount of gear, weapons, rehauls how mechs are built, and has a sandbox faction war imolemented. That just scratches the surface. It is a very involved and complicated project.

dZ CCC's main focus is on providing as solid of a campaign experience as possible. It aims to keep everything era appropriate while providing a much more strategically interesting campaign. It has a lot of Quality of Life improvements and shares a lot of mods with Rogue Tech. I also include an optional sandbox mode with the InnerSphereMap Map and Rogue Tech so you can play in a similar manner to Rogue Tech but without all the advanced and experimental equipment.

Yup, I haven't personally played Rogue Tech, but I've extensively played dZ CCC. dZ CCC is great if you want something to keep the vanilla feel, but like to have QoL improvements and a ton of extra features that enhances HBS's Battletech.

From what I've seen / read, Rogue Tech would be for you if you would want an completely open experience with no campaign, but all the extra bells and whistles (weapons, mechs, tech) that is available beyond the 3025 era.

You can also play an Vanilla Campaign with RogueTech. Everything else has been said. CCC is more Vanilla with alot of QoL improvements and RT changes almost every aspect of the vanilla game. Around 250 mechs, alot vehicles, tons of weapons, gear and ammo. The mechlab is a different one, you have engine, cores, actuatoren for arms. Mechchassis have quirks. You need to try both to see what' s for you i guess.
