The default trade good in Valencia, a province in eastern Iberia, is paper. I'm don't know how the devs choose the trade goods of each province, but I don't have a clue on why they picked paper. Historically speaking it would make much more sense for the trade good in Valencia to be silk.

Silk was introduced to Valencia during the reign of the Muslims. Silk worms and the mulberry trees they thrive on were transported from China to Iberia. Silk was grown in the middle of the city itself, in gardens. During the trade's peak in the 18th century, there were 3,000 silk producing workshops and 25,000 employees in the neighborhood of Velluters alone. Even after the Muslims were expelled, silk was the major trade in Valencia. A guild specifically for silk manufacturers was chartered in 1479, and in 1482 construction began in the famous Silk Exchange, which still stands today as a World Heritage Site (Special event anyone?). For a period of time, this served as the primary market in Valencia for the trade of silk.

The silk trade evolved in the 17th century. Concerns about unscrupulous weavers making low quality goods forced the crown and the silk guild to tighten regulations. College of the Greater Art of the Silk was chartered in 1686 by King Carlos II and controlled by the silk guild. The college was also a physical building, which is a museum today. The guild continued to hunt down low-quality product. In a famous incident, one guild leaders had heaps of low-quality silk burned in a public square.

So I formally ask the devs to change the trade good in Valencia to silk when they have a chance to. It would be much more historically accurate without sacrificing any game mechanics or dev resources.

Problem here is that not only Valencia but some more provinces in Europe should have Silk as trade good. For instance Genoa, Lyon and some other italian cities at least. But Silk is supposed to be Eastern trade good, and European Silk production centers still largely depended on raw Silk sent from the East, like Persia and etc.
So I don't entirely understand if Silk trade good represents raw Silk, or Silk products. Because Wool = raw Wool, Cotton = raw Cotton, Cloth = all type textiles (?), and Silk = ???

They picked paper because Xátiva, an important industrial city in Valencia back at the time, was the european city that produced the most paper apparently for a time. So I'm fine with it, but I'd also be fine with silk. Both are historical.

To be fair, Iberian Region is begging for a rework, so perhaps in future we could have both Paper and Silk developed over there.

Will remain as Paper for now, but I can see the potential for splitting the province so that both could be represented.

Castellón should definitely be represented. It held important cities back at the time. One, Peñiscola (beautiful town, I recomend you to check it out) was even a Papal city for a time.

Looking forward to this in the Iberian update then.

lol
The next expansion should be an immersion pack. So Iberian immersion pack?
That would be the most deserving region. Neither Scandinavia nor France are really as much in need as Iberia. Yet RB has shown that we can't count on the devs making the right choice, i.e. Scandinavia ImPak incoming:confused:

I just want a Poland immersion pack that would finally fix the elective monarchy. Is that too much to ask?
Considering the elective monarchy is already part of a DLC, I would say yes. It could just be reworked and still included in said expansion.

Oh yea, I forgot, it's a part of the DLC... Welp. I guess I'm not seeing Poland being touched any time soon :(

I have no doubt that the Commonwealth will get their own content patch sooner or later.
