At least in the tooltips, it appears to cost the same amount of prestige, target opinion, and general opinion to revoke a viceroyal kingdom, as it costs to revoke a hereditary title. The subject of the prospective revocation is, according to the tooltips, equally inclined to accept the revocation of either in his "Maybe" consideration.

I do understand the game balance concern with making viceroyalties even better than they already are, as they are already the only civilized and responsible way to run an empire without spending most of peacetime running around and scheming up plots and legal pretexts to cut vassals down to size.

Yet, surely, the reader must sympathize with how glaringly irrational it is, that a vassal, and the realm, should be as opposed to the revocation of a hereditary title as they would be opposed to the revocation of a viceroyalty. A rational player would be much more inclined to fight for one than the other. Also, just as a feudal vassal is unamused by realm viceroyalties, a feudal vassal should be more amused by the revocation of these titles within the realm, than would he be amused by the revocation of hereditary titles, which would be a precedent that would threaten his own holdings.
