Okay, just updated my game, but now my previous save games are no longer compatible and they seem corrupted when I start them. One game loads properly, but on another, and the save that I have played 50+ years and where I had some character message alerts for two characters, it changes my ruler's portrait to the child portrait and centers the kingdom on the extreme bottom left of the screen. When I click start, it immediately takes me to the resign page, only listing the current character and not the two rulers I had previously played.

So I need help to get my games compatible and then also to fix this problem where it shows me the child portrait instead of my ruler.

It's just not compatible. There's no way to make it so, bar not patching in the first place. Start a new game.

The character of interest thing was breaking people's saves, and would have likely broken yours anyway. So, they fixed it. Now everyone can use that feature without breaking their save games. It sucks a bit that your old save won't work, but it's the price we pay for broken things getting fixed.

What's worse, really, this one campaign of yours being ended, or potentially every campaign you play ending due to save game corruption?

Here's what one of the devs says in another thread:

The message is a warning telling you that particular save was made under the previous version, you should still be able to use your save no problem.

So, as far as I understand the patch should have fixed the problem with saves not loading due to that "person of interest" feature regardless of the version number (btw, those saves where not loading even under 1.02b). Or does that mean that only future saves will be bug-free and those we already got are irrepairable and lost?

A campaing is CK2 is not something you abandon easily, so I would like to know if I will have to start a new one with every patch coming out?

The patch made it so that the problem does not arise in new savegames. I put an item in the "Known Issues and Solutions to them.", in this forum, on how to get the 1.02b savegames with this issue working.
