v2.1 of my customised 1936 scenario: The Gathering Storm, as well as the new 1945 scenario: The End of the World. Made using ARM 1.3 beta, but should work with other versions. readme.txt included for more info.

Uses a modified version of SKIF's latest models.csv, so please bear that in mind with regards to models, &c. I use SKIF... so if models/pictures don't match up, then it's probably because you're not. :)

NOTE: This is purely cosmetic, and will only result in minor differences in naval models. It should not cause any game errors/CTDs.

- THIS MOD REQUIRES A CLEAN, UNMODIFIED 1.3 INSTALLATION -

I'll update this thread when I release future versions.

WARNING: You may require 7-Zip, available free HERE in order to open this file. It means I can compress and upload the files at a fraction of the size, saving me bandwidth and time.

Can you provide us additional info? f.e. post readme.txt:)

I say, what a devilishly clever idea. :)

mandead's HoI2/ARM 1936 scenario, v1.0

This was compiled using Armageddon with the 1.3 beta patch, although theoretically it should work with Doomsday and vanilla HoI2.

*Please note, this mod assumes you have the latest version of the SKIF GFX modification!*

I lost this in a PC crash before Xmas, so I decided to re-do it. In fact, I ended up doing a bit more than I'd originally done, mainly core redistribution.

This is version 1.0 - I'll update it as & when.

So, what have I done?

- Well, there's my flags & shields mod, which is also available separately.

- I've removed all colonial cores. Nations' cores are now restricted to their metropolitan territories; ie the British Isles, France proper, the Japanese Home Islands, &c. This includes the removal of the United States' cores on its then overseas non-state territories, particularly Alaska and Puerto Rico.

- I've tried to correct a few models using the latest SKIF models.csv. Currently these only include naval units, particularly with regards to the Deutschland and Admiral Scheer originally being Admiral Hipper-class cruisers, when they were in fact Deutschland-class. I've also changed the French and British setup, although to be fair a lot of my original issues with the Commonwealth fleet setup seem to have been fixed with the 1.3 beta patch.

- I've added Egypt as a playable nation. It is a British puppet, and a member of the Allies.

- My own customised colorscales.csv & country.csv. My inspiration was taken from the 1914 modification, whose general colourscheme I use. I have, however, changed most of the countries' colours according to my own taste.

- The UXX country tags added in Armageddon have been removed. This was originally done for two reasons; 1, there were very few ministers/pics for them, and 2, I wasn't happy with the flags & shields for them. However, as Admiral RV seems to have fixed the former problem with his wonderful 'Armageddon Minister/Leader/Techteam Files' mod, I may be tempted to re-add them in a later version, his permission pending.

What do I still want to do?

- Revamp the provincial setup, in particular French industry. I've tweaked one or two things - such as adding a L1 naval fort in Alexandria and upping the fort in Líege to L8 - but there is still plenty I want to do.

- Have a look through revolt.txt, perfecting individual nations' cores.

- Add some French divisions. They should have significantly more than Germany in 1936.

- Events! Only the basics, though. I'm not trying to do an AGCEEP-style mod here, just a more polished 1936 scenario, albeit one rendered to my taste : )

...and plenty more no doubt.

It's not much at present, but please feel free to PM/e-mail me feedback, suggestions, bugs, &c.

Update

For those interested (anyone? :eek:o) here's the 1.1 readme as of now...

v1.0 - v1.1 changelong:

- Tweaked the Japanese naval OOBs. Removed the 'IJN' prefixes (I had already done this with Germany) and corrected as many models as I could find decent info for.

- Given Germany her imperial (ie, pre 1919) cores. More likely to DoW Poland as a result.

- Tweaked a few other cores: Denmark, Portugal, USA, &c.

- Naval OOBs should be in better shape now. Let me know of any errors, of course.

- France's remaining La Galissonnière-class light cruisers have been queued up for her.

- Upped the PRC's forts to 8, 6 & 6. They tend to get annexed far too quickly.

- Tweaked Britain's OOBs. Indian & African troops now a little tidier, and 'Force in Egypt' has been added to Alexandria.

...and some more, of course : )

This thread has officially received a comment from me. :)

:p :D

Update

Done quite a bit of work on the French and British OOBs, adding garrisons in Dover and Belfast, the Royal Tank Corps in London (one armoured division) and Arme Blindée cavalerie (three armoured divisions) in Paris. Finally, I have added a few infantry divisions to the existing French armies in Alsace-Lorraine, as well as adding another army & HQ (10ere) to Valenciennes.

Should give the French a bit more of a kick come '39. :)

Mandead, I think a Jan 1 1938 scenario would be cool. Right before the annexation of Austria and with diplomacy coming to and end, war begins.

It give the player 1 1/2 years to get ready for the war, but no 3 years of diddy daddling with "what ifs" but instead rather "when and how". For the most part the borders are drawn for the beligerant nations, it would just be a matter of who is better prepared when Sep 1 rolls around.

Yeah, 1938 scenario in Vanilla Hoi2 is after austria annextation and then germany is producting Navals and airplanes wich are fast ready so you can't improve production, that's why i don't start Hoi2 1938 scenario. I agree with you, Wenceslaus. Always when i start 1936 i get bored because it's 3-years-waiting  and usually when i start 1936 i always win with Germany. I have also tryed other countries 1936, too easy for normal but if hard, too hard. 1938 would be just-fine-difficult with germany, normal difficuilty and Ai aggressivenes. So c'mon Mandead start making reworked 1938 scenario and you get many happy Hoi2 Players!

I'll certainly think about it, chaps. :)

I only tended to play 1936 and 1945, which is why I decided to do those.

But I do see your point... building up for nearly four years can be a bit tedious, although I do like expanding my navy. ;)

Would nobody be interested in a 1945 scenario, either historical (Spring, just prior to fall of Germany) or ahistorical, maybe Operation Unthinkable?

a 45 scenario isnt really needed i think, if you want to play a 45 game u should try the cold war techtree project 45 scenario its pretty neat.

a 38 scenario would be nice for a change if you dont like to building up your country over and over again.

Jarno, I checked that Cold War thread, but I think it's just an expanded techtree, not a revised scenario - is that right?

Do you know of a decent, fairly accurate 1945 scenario? :eek:o

Nay, it's a whole mod. DL it and check it out, select the Cold War scenario when you do.

What about Battlescenario named Continuation War

It would be get popular, noone haven't done it yet.
Germany's 5th attack wedge (In Operation Barbarossa), the Northest one.

Manhead what about 1943 Scenario after Kursk:s battle? or before? before d-day? There's suggestions for you

I've started work on the 1945 scenario (whilst also continuing to update this one) - it'll be a while until I release anything, though.

Awesome that you are working on a 1945. Does it start out in a war? (Like standard "Doomsday" scenario)

Update

v2.0 uploaded. Now contains a fully working (I hope) 1945 scenario.

From now on I shall include a separate change log for each scenario.

Many thanks to Prinz Wilhelm & Ayeshteni for help with ministers and graphics, respectively.

I've used the Doomsday scenario as a base, but I've changed a lot. Mainly cores, and of course added Germany.

Gosh, I feel like Gigau, only without the fanbase. :eek:o:p
