I'm having difficulty manually installing mods, I downloaded Invictus from Paradox Mods and unzipped it to "C:\Users\Username\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Imperator\mod\Invictus" but I when I go to the launcher nothing shows up, I've also tried just unzipping the file contents directly to "C:\Users\Username\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Imperator\mod" and in that case the launcher sees the mod but still it isn't being applied once in game. I've been over an hour trying to get this to work and having no luck I'd appreciate if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Just to check: is your issue that you're unable to find the mod when creating a playset, or are you assuming mods are automatically applied once put in the mod folder?

To be clear, this is an easy thing to get wrong. If you haven't messed with Paradox's playsets before (it's part of their launcher revamp of the past few years), the circled bar in the image below gives you a drop-down of sets of mods to play with:

Go there, create a new playset, and add the mods you want to it. Basically, it's a way to manage mods without you having to actually move files or (as in the case of CK2) manually check and uncheck mods each time - once the playset is made, you can flip between it and any other set of mods in a couple clicks.

I figured it out, my problem was the mod did not come with a .mod file containing the path to the mod folder. I had to copy the descriptor.mod file from the Invictus mod directory, paste it in the main mod directory rename it invictus.mod and add a line "path="C:/Users/Username/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Imperator/mod/invictus" then it finally worked.
